A little wacky but very nice - serene.

Mele Kalikimaka is the Hawaiian transliteration of Merry Christmas.

Like most east Asian languages, it doesn't differentiate between the 'l' and 'r' sounds. It also has some other shortages. The 't' and 'd' sounds are stuck into the 'k'. And so, weirdly, is the 's'. Another thing is that it is based on syllables (like Japanese) so every consonant must be followed by a vowel.

Thus Me-le = Me-rry and Ka-li-ki-ma-ka = Ch-ri-st-ma-s
