Key Punch. Very computer-ish

Lol Petra on the "computer-ish"!#2: Jan Wolter (jan) on Apr 28, 2008 [SPOILER]
Thank you for another fun and informative puzzle. ^v^
Computer-ish, but not keypunch-ish. Keypunch fonts, if I remember right, were pretty much your standard all upper case dot matrix printer font. They never mattered much because the print on the card doesn't really matter, it's only the holes that matter, so your typical office keypunch machine would have a faded or ragged ribbon so the characters would be barely readable.#3: Petra Lassen (Stjarna) on Feb 2, 2009
This font, with the blobby characters, reminds me more of a MICR font. MICR fonts are most familiar from the numbers on the bottom edge of checks. MICR stands for "Magnetic Ink Character Recognition". It is printed on your checks with a special magnetic ink. A computer reads the shapes of the letters with a magnetic scanner. The blobs on the letters and numbers makes it easier for the magnetic scanner to distinguish the different letters.
I wish all my knowledge of obsolete computers would magically turn into knowledge of modern computers.
Well, I guess MICR isn't obsolete, just old.
I agree with you, I didn't name the font though lol!
