I dunno... I imagine her standards might not have been as high as ours today; it's not like she could shop around at her neighborhood Whole Foods for worm-free apples. hmm... does the worm count as a tiny "serpent"?
if the worm had some hallucinogenic properties, that would help explain eve's "knowledge" gleaned from eating it...
(def not trying to incite religious debate, as versions of the eden tale are shared among many beliefs)

...but cans of worms can be so tasty! I, for one, would eat worm as protein if I had to...but chewing on worm as religious fodder could be far more intriguing....
