LOL! I understand your Mom's plight! Why is it that people tend to fixate on a particular impression of a person when they give gifts? A have a few cats, so people buy me 'cat' things all the time, as if that were my obsession! Instead of personalizing a gift, I think they actually generalize it, because that's just easier. I also go by my middle name or actually a shortened version of it. My father intended my middle name to be my first but my father refused. This lead to my having a first name and two middle names and now I love confusing people.

cute! i always wished i had an unusual name because EVERYONE was named linda in the 60's! my middle name's denise - don't know why i never went with that...

My grandma's name was Rose and she embraced it with rose colored clothing and rose perfume.

Interesting. My aunt's name is Rose, which is her middle name. Her first name is Gertrude. Hmm...
