It's weird how sometimes your brain just can't see the answer, but a little break and PRESTO it seems to just fall into place. Thanks for the cute puzzle Marz, it was a great late night quick puzzle.

Cute lil bug! My first car was a dune buggy on a 1957 VW chassis. In college I had a 1965 bug with a hole in the floor that was very handy for pouring out my beer when necessary, but could barely make it up Big Cottonwood Canyon for my ski instructor gig at Brighton. This car holds what should be a world record for coasting: One snowy evening I skidded off the canyon road just after leaving the resort. A buddy in his Jeep stopped, threw a chain around my front end and pulled me right out. I got going, only to notice my gas gauge needle rapidly dropping. Evidently he had pulled the hose loose, and the gas drained out in about 30 seconds. I figured what the heck, it's all downhill from here, and there was a 7-11 right at the mouth of the canyon. Luckily the light was green, and I rolled right up to the pump. I plugged the gas line back in, filled her up and away we went. Coasting distance? Just under 16 miles.

Fun memories Bill!

Yes, Jota, they certainly are! I will add that my college graduation present to myself was a used 1984 Rabbit GTI, which still remains one of the all-time most fun cars to drive.

My gosh, Bill...when you say, "I've been down the coast," you really mean it! What a story!
