What do you mean by "me tendons", Donna?

The story of Achilles is that his mother held him by the heel and dipped him in the River Styx as a baby. This protected him in battle leaving only his heel vulnerable. He was shot with an arrow in that same heel and died during the Trojan wars. The expression one's Achilles heel refers to a point of vulnerablity. The tendon that connects the calf muscle to the heel allowing you to walk, run, and do ballet is called the Achilles tendon after the story. So if there really were a person named Achilles stretching before a battle he would be working out his "me" tendon.

Good question that got me thinking. I guess for me they represent the coming together of art and science. They are creatively designed works of art AND extremely precisely engineered instruments. The design might be light and elegant or rugged and durable because they are designed with a purpose. The engineering may be simple and masterfully traditional or they may be innovative feats. As an Architect they remind me of buildings in miniature...art and science, form and function.

I have a very wide variety of watches; vintage, modern, mechanical, quartz, bold, understated. I'm just drawn to them and because of the impact on my wallet, I'd say that's an Achilles heel :)
