I know it sounds like a potentially very bad situation! The people of New Orleans are definitely in my prayers!

Have 3 daughters and four grandkids there right now. They tell me they will be ok. They are north of Lake Pontchartrain. I'm still praying.

Amen

I'm in Kenner, just west of NOLA. We should be fine, this time. As long as the pumps keep working, all of the rain should be pumped away, and the expected 17' crest of the Mississippi is still below the 20' height of the levee. Baton Rouge, unfortunately, will get more of the impact than we will.

I can't keep the people of Louisiana off my mind today; I hope the storm doesn't stall as much as they were predicting.

Also, it's being blown out of proportion by the national news.

The mandatory evacuations are farther south, in the Delta. The problem is, Jefferson Parish (where I live, just west of NOLA) stretches all the way from the southern bank of Lake Pontchartrain to the Gulf coast. Grand Isle has a mandatory evacuation, and it IS in Jefferson Parish, but it's 90 miles south of New Orleans.

Wow. Talk about fake news. So glad you are OK, Kristen.

Fake news is when people make up a story in order to deceive. This is a matter of being overly cautious. I sure wouldn't want to be the newsman who said not to worry, the levees will hold the water, and then they didn't.

God ain't watching. Ain't nobody here but us.
