My dad enlisted in the army during WWI and made some life long friends. One of his great friends from Globe, AZ had at one time been a stage coach driver between Globe and Superior which is all mountainous. Near Superior there was a pass which could only be negotiated on foot. So a stage coach would drive up from Superior and the passengers from both coaches would get out and walk over the pass.
