#4: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
hahahahha... relax, Norma. I made it up
#5: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
I'm glad you enjoyed it though.... smile! :)
#6: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
oho! here we go again, mr 1-rater! luv ya! it wouldn't be the same without you....
#7: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Aug 24, 2012
The word cryptid exists. Some crytids really exist. Others are perhaps there out in the netherworld somewhere. Does this mean the Aldege is a hoax????lol
#8: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
the word cryptid is real....the animals themselves have never been proven, such as the chupacabra or bigfoot. yes, many are indeed real. science discovers 100's of new species each year......however, the "goateed horn-dog" was conceived only today, and there have been no sightings as of yet. (as far as I know) lol
#9: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
I'm pretty sure Al is the genuine thing....hahahaha
#10: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 24, 2012
Genuine for sure, and proud of it,and yes there have been sightings,i've been seen throughout Ontario. Thx again Kurt,my reputation is intact, lol.:)

Kurt don't let that 1 rater bother you,the real creators and solvers will let you know in our comments how much we appreciate your work. Keep having fun buddy.:)
#11: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 24, 2012
I see a 3.25. No 1s in sight.

I think you're spot-on with Al's totem.
#12: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 24, 2012
sorry, K.....4 raters, if you were paying attention. a 1, a 3, a 4, a 5....=13. /4= 3.25. but yes, spot on. lol

Great puzz, Kurt. Everyone's advice for me when I get pi$$ed off for an idiot rating a great puzzle 1, is to blow it off. Q4, D3 for me. Dammit, BLOW IT OFF!!!!
#16: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 24, 2012
I know you think it's me rating your puzzles 1s on quality, Kurt, but it's not. You can even ask Jan if you want about my ratings on your puzzles. I have only given you one quality rating of 1 (and that was on puzzle # 19634, because it was not even an attempt at a puzzle; by the way, so have 5 other people at this point). Obviously there are many others who rate puzzles with 1s, so don't get mad at just one random person who may do it (get mad at ALL of them, LOL, just kidding). And like Tom said in comment # 15, "BLOW IT OFF!!!!" :-)
It's always just best to ignore the ratings and focus on the positive comments, as everyone here continues to reiterate to new puzzle creators who go through the same struggles you are going through now, when their puzzles seem unfairly rated. It has happened to me as well as to many others. Jan has mentioned many times that the ratings balance themselves out. But unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) people are free to rate whatever they want, and continuous complaining won't change their ratings.

Anyway, cool dog-thing. 4/2 from me.
#17: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 25, 2012
naw, I didn't think it was you rating the 1's, Adam. thanks

mostly I do blow it off. it's kinda humorous, actually. especially when someone rates it a 1 before they even solve....but some days when you're already in a foul mood, it's one more think to irk ya.
#18: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 25, 2012
I'm keeping Katzy off the roads of eastern canada this august ;/
#19: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 25, 2012
Come now, Kurt, I CAN read, ya know. :-)
#20: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 25, 2012
hahaha....ok, the thought mighta crossed my mind before. but believe it or not, I let go of the notion pretty quickly. :)

#21: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Aug 25, 2012
Kurt, think of the scoring like at some Olympic events where they throw out the highest and lowest scores and use the rest.

This is a really great puzzle and I gave it a 5.

Enjoyed the comments as well, got a laugh at sgusa bringing up the old "Aldegia" thing.
#22: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 25, 2012
Adam, I have never seen you loquacious in your writing. Almost always it is, see puzzle #s. A different side of you, and I appreciate it. I have never known if you were pro or con. Obviously, you appreciate good puzzles. Thanks for showing this.
#23: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 25, 2012
I have made PLENTY of good, positive comments on many good-quality puzzles. I have said countless times that I appreciate good puzzles, and I have told the creators of such puzzles the same thing. Not as much in the last year or so, but prior to that, quite often.
#24: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 26, 2012
Adam, that is cool. I started creating puzzles last November, and your comments were always cryptic. Not good or bad. I didn't know what you were telling me, so replied in the same cryptic tone. Thanks for clarifying. Best, Tom
#25: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 26, 2012
Adam: I remember when I made, what I thought, was a very difficult puzzle. The old lady in the shoe. You wrote see puzzles W,X,Y,Z. I replied that I imagine that subject material is repeated with almost 20,000 puzzles. You replied that this is correct. That was our largest discourse. Getting to know you a bit, is far more interesting. I haven't been here from day one, so have little history. Solved puzzles for a couple of years before stepping into the maelstrom. I know just bits that I accumulate from comments and preferences. Writing puzzles, I tend to put myself out there. Thank you for this dialogue.
#26: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 26, 2012
Love all the comments gang, especially sgusa who is always entertaining and fun. The flea is quite fitting too, seeing how i made my Hobo Flea puzzle a long time ago.:)
#27: Jota (jota) on Aug 26, 2012
I love it! I thought it was a Border Collie, which totally fits Al, but I like your idea Kurt as well as the details added by Sgusa.
#28: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 26, 2012
Fantastic puzzle, Kurt. That is sooooo Aldege.

Is the netherworld anywhere close to the nether regions? :-D

wow.... adam
#34: valerie o..travis (bigblue) on Aug 28, 2012
lol, i like it kurt :)
PS: maybe the people rating it a 1, think 1 is the best :)
#35: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Aug 24, 2023
Well that was surprising: I looked in the database, and monkeyboy *is* one of the three people who rated this puzzle a 1.
#36: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Aug 25, 2023
Your last comment has me mystified, Valerie...I think Adam was being genuine when he claimed he had not rated this puzzle a 1, don't you?...what do you think happened?
#37: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Aug 25, 2023
I don't think it was a software error. I think Adam genuinely rated the puzzle a 1. He was always trying to game the site's ratings system, and Jan was always trying to prevent it.
#38: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Aug 26, 2023
Yes...but to lie? Lol...or is that ok because it's a game?

I'm just shaking my head...maybe Adam enjoyed playing the game of trying to get Jan's attention by messing with the stats (because he knew how smart Jan was and wanted to see what Jan did when he screwed with the system) I think Adam was smart, had a high opinion of himself...and was the kind of person who liked stirring the pot. I wonder if, in the real world, he had any close friends.

I think he had good and bad days...and that determined how he interacted with all of us.

Well, now that I've over-psychoanalized Adam, I'll let it go. Lol...I do try and figure people out when they say and do things that puzzle me. Sigh. It's a fault and I should stop doing that!
#39: Jota (jota) on Aug 27, 2023
It's surprising!

#51: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Oct 12, 2023

though I do wonder about others.holy shit-balls! I knew my brother slept through the whole hamas attack on israel. so I gave him a break-down yest. and he laughed. I can imagine many reactions to that sort of news... laughter was never one of them. from my brother....

#52: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Oct 12, 2023
in particular, when I described kids running from a music festival....and creating their own traffik jam. so they could just walk up and kill everyone in every car. that is whaaaaaaaaat he found funny. I have not scolded my younger bro so sternly as since he was kid. he is not a kid anymore
#53: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Nov 3, 2023
