I would guess something about the count between the letters. I don;t know. Brian, you did another one of these. I'm about ready to climb through the internet and kill you... I counted backwards and forwards through the letters. I have no clue. I'll complete the next one...

E N T E T etc. I first encountered this series in my second year of college. My roommate and I were both math majors and she gave me this puzzle to solve. It took me a while, but I got it. She told me a story of someone who was giving this puzzle to someone, and saying "one" while writing an "O" on the blackboard, saying "two" while writing a "T" on the blackboard, etc. The other person couldn't figure it out.

I have always given this puzzle as OTTFFSSE and asked for the next letter, saying "It's not E". I think that makes it even more challenging.
