Puzzle Description:

The Anomalocaris was a large shrimp-like ocean preadator. It was .5 m long (20 inches) and had huge protruding eyes and big suckers in the mouth area. The lateral segments were covered with tiny spines and had sharp blades on the underside. The mouth had a jaw and teeth. This lethal predator could suck the innards out of smaller creatures like trilobites.

Anomalocarid arthropods have been reported from Cambrian fossil localities around the world, including the Burgess Shale formation in Canada, in California and Nevada, in China, and in Australia. These fossils date back more than 500 million years.

fun solve, teresa. interesting science lesson, too. it definitely looks like a precursor to our modern-day shrimp and crawfish. but the shape and tail also give it a fish-like appearance as well.
