Puzzle Description:

It doesn't have anything to do with the table, I just needed a place to set down my big snack! In this case, size doesn't matter. :-) Answer in first spoiler.

Pineapple, of course!

Hawaii is the largest producer of domestically consumed pineapples. Most people believe that the pineapple is native to Hawaii. But actually, pineapples originated in South America and were transplanted throughout tropical areas by the Spanish and Portuguese. It was also taken back to Europe to be grown there. The Europeans improved the fruit plant and developed pineapple plantations before introducing them into Australia and Hawaii in the late 1700's. Today, China is the "king" of the pineapple, producing the most pineapples in the world.

Yummy...pineapple sounds good. How do they grow? I'll have to check on-line. Thanks for another fun puzzle, Teresa.

The pineapple plant grows to 1.0 to 1.5 metres (3.3 to 4.9 ft) tall with 30 or more trough-shaped and pointed leaves 30 to 100 centimetres (1.0 to 3.3 ft) long, surrounding a thick stem. The pineapple is really many little fruits pressed into one large clump. They grow as multiple, helically-arranged flowers along the axis, each producing a fleshy fruit that becomes pressed against the fruits of adjacent flowers, forming what appears to be a single fleshy fruit.
The fruit of a pineapple are arranged in two interlocking helices, eight in one direction, thirteen in the other, each being a Fibonacci number.

Thanks for the info., Teresa! I feel informed! Fascinating! Fibonacci...find that fascinating too. Is it the Golden Ratio (phi?) or the Fibonacci that the growth is based on?
