Funny, because when I was solving it it was looking like an apple for me, and I was there waiting for it to turn into a spaceship or something at the last minute.

Well constructed puzzle. Nice misdirection on the title. I was trying to find moon and star shapes in the large black area, expecting a space scene. Kind of early on, I could tell it was a worm in an apple, really, before the worm even started to form. But I could not figure how that had anything to do with space travel! The lovely pun at the end cleared that up. Loved the punchline and the solve.
