Good one#2: Jan Wolter (jan) on May 13, 2007 [SPOILER]
It's funny 'cause I'm from Québec and I was thinking about doing a Fleur-de-lys myself since we got 4 of them on our flag but you beat me to the punch
I've never really thought of New Orleans and Montreal as having a lot in common, but come to think of it, the fleur-de-lys is the least of it.#3: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on May 14, 2007
Yeah it's true lot of festivity in the summer, love for music and great food, beautiful women, all that because of some "horse eater" ( sorry frenchie) down in the old country.#4: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 7, 2007
THat the ultimate proof that France is not as bad a place as we like to say....
no offence to the French we love your women and your wine
Lovely job Joy! Thank you :)#5: zandperl (zandperl) on Jan 18, 2008 [SPOILER]
I wasn't sure if it actuallly was the fleur-de-lys until I read the comments.#6: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 14, 2008
Ok, Zandperl... what else would it have been?#7: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 7, 2013
I was expecting a pelican as the symbol of Louisiana. The fleur-de-lis is definitely popular in LA, but I think of it more as a symbol of France. :)#8: Synthia McBride (synthia) on Feb 15, 2014 [SPOILER]
Kristen, I think you live in Louisiana. Being a life-long native of the state, I agree with you. New Orleans and their football team, the Saints, co-opted a fleur-de-lis as their emblem and others across the state, especially Saint fans, have spread its usage. But I still think of it as more of the symbol of France.#9: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Feb 16, 2014
I do--I'm not a native, but I've lived here since '09#10: Belita (belita) on Jul 1, 2022
The connection makes a lot of sense since the Cajuns come from French Canada. Cajun is a mispronunciation of Acadian.#11: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jul 1, 2022
I did not know that! Cool!
