Another beautiful puzzle Teresa. It was a bit of a challenge for me but that's how I like them. Thanks!#3: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 27, 2010
I like this one too, Jewel. Here's more info on those designs:#4: Jane Doe (telly) on Jan 27, 2010
The one on the left is HYE WON HYE "that which does not burn " a symbol of imperishability and endurance. This symbol gets its meaning from traditional priests that were able to walk on fire without burning their feet, an inspiration to others to endure and overcome difficulties.
On the right is OSRAM NE NSOROMMA - "The Moon and the Star" - a symbol of love, faithfulness, harmony. This symbol reflects the harmony that exists in the bonding between a man and a woman. The Proverb: "Kyekye pe aware." (The North Star has a deep llove for marriage. She is always in the sky waiting for the return of the moon, her husband.)
one of my favorites of this series.#5: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jan 27, 2010
it looks like a butterfly to me. ;p and I'd say that butterflies aren't so enduring, but...
Nice puzzle, and very fun to solve.#6: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 27, 2010

Thanks, Wendy. There is a book somewhere with 700 of these African symbols. Someday when I am bored and have run out of ideas, maybe I'll get that book. :-)#9: Gator (Gator) on Jan 29, 2010 [HINT]
