Puzzle Description:

Greek letters Xi and Psi.

#1: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 24, 2009 [SPOILER]

Xi is a symbol used in particle physics, statistical mechanics, and Z notation (computer programming).

Psi is sometimes used as a symbol for psychology or psychiatry or parapsychology. It is also the symbol for the planet Neptune. It is used in math, physics and quantum mechanics.

Both are pronounced like the word "sigh."

I liked this one a lot.

I use "Delta" at work quite frequently. I'm a newscast director and one of the commands we use is to say the word "change". It is MUCH faster when I am marking my scripts to write the Delta symbol than it is to write the word "change". Very few people understand this when they look at my scripts! I always know when I've found a kindred spirit when someone looks at my scripts and I don't have to explain what the triangles are. :)

Interesting.

In my medical charting, I also use the triangle symbol for change. I liked this puzzle, too.

I use delta for change all the time in my notes. :) I actually thought this was going to be "wait" and "weight", because the left one looks like a sideways hourglass, the kind that shows up on your computer when you have to wait for it to load or do something, and the right one looked like balancing scales until I finished.

Diana, I think that would have made a good puzzle. Better, as it would have been recognized more easily. :-)
