I forgot to include the connection: Edible paints! I found an easy recipe for shiny paint that kids can use. Just stir some liquid food coloring into some light corn syrup. Now, I'm not a big fan of artificial food colors, as many are known to cause irritability that contributes to behavior problems, especially in kids with ADHD or other neurobehavioral disorcers. But I found some natural food colorings here:
