Puzzle Description:

Thomas Edison was first to conceive of the idea of a moving picture camera. But Frenchman Louis Lumiere and his brother invented a machine that took the pictures, processed the film, and projected the movie, all in one.

What is this? It looks like 5 people in stadium seating in a theater.
#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 15, 2009 [SPOILER]
Yes, people in a theatre watching a movie that is being projected onto the screen from the projector in back.
#3: Katydid (kmeifert) on Oct 16, 2009
Ah, now I see it. Didn't pop out at first.
#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 16, 2009
Sometimes I don't realize that the image might be obscure for all of you. Of course, it's very clear to me as it looks just like the image in my brain when I created it. :-)
#5: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Oct 16, 2009
Once I read the comments I realized what it was. Could not guess before. Now that I see it, it is kinda neat.
#6: Cynthia Roach (girlie4gzuz) on Oct 23, 2009
It took me a minute to figure out what it was but then it just 'popped'
#7: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Nov 12, 2009
I don't like solving puzzles with random pictures. That being said, my guess is a piece of cheese :/
#8: ant (agrest272) on Nov 13, 2009 [SPOILER]
look harder and you'll see the image elf.. keep in mind its white on black.
#9: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Nov 13, 2009
oh you mean it's supposed to be something? i thought it was one of those "what do you see in this cloud" kind of pictures. i didn't know there was a right answer. and i still see cheese. and yes i knew from previously guessing cheese that it is a white and black image. unless you're implying that cheese can only be yellow or orange.

I don't make puzzles of random nothingness. In fact, I detest those puzzles. All my creations are recognizable images, although this one might be a little difficult to detect, due to the small size. The image is explained in the description, and more clearly defined in my comments.
#11: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Nov 13, 2009 [SPOILER]
Well I'm sorry i don't see a stadium of people. I see cheese and I like cheese. I don't like u telling me that i can't say what i see in ur puzzle cuz it's not what u wanted it to be.
#12: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Nov 13, 2009
Teresa, let's just ignore him/her. You tried explaining politely and rationally, and this person just doesn't get it; everyone but him/her knows that you weren't saying that people couldn't interpret your work as they choose.
#13: Teresa K (fasstar) on Nov 13, 2009
Adam, I think that is good advice.
#14: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Nov 13, 2009
we're not all sheep, moo
#15: ant (agrest272) on Nov 13, 2009 [SPOILER]
ha elf i'm not implying anything about cheese color.. if anything just solve my 'cheesy' puzzle and you'll see I made some red cheese. I was just pointing out the image Teresa intended, since your comment in 7 implied it was a 'random picture'

also, i kinda see cake more than cheese ;)
#16: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Nov 14, 2009
ok ok I do see the people floating above the stairs, but still i think it should be retitled to "this is some cheese" cuz it makes more sense. :D
#17: Jane Doe (telly) on Nov 14, 2009 [SPOILER]
I totally see the movie theater...I could see it before the description and comments. Yeah for me. lol
Nice job!
The perfect way to end my evening of puzzling. :)
#18: Teresa K (fasstar) on Nov 15, 2009
Thank you, Telly. I hope you get some good sleep before the baby wakes up. :-)
#19: Jota (jota) on Feb 16, 2010
Help I don't see it!
#20: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Mar 30, 2010
i can't see it either teresa
i also can't see "what the dr. ordered" either
#21: Teresa K (fasstar) on Mar 30, 2010 [SPOILER]
The single dots are heads of the people seated in the theater, all facing to your right. I don't understand your second sentence, Tom. What does that refer to?
#22: ant (agrest272) on Mar 30, 2010
i guess it vaguely resembles ted nugent
#23: Teresa K (fasstar) on Mar 30, 2010
:-D
#24: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Mar 31, 2010 [SPOILER]
I think the picture is very clear if it is viewed as iconic rather than representational.

#26: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 18, 2011 [SPOILER]
I thought you were trying to depict a zoetrope, until I read the comments, and now I can clearly see the projection booth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoetrope
#27: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on May 27, 2011
fun solve! at first i thought it was a film strip but i can clearly see the people seated in the theatre.
#28: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jun 11, 2013
I didn't see the people at first, but as soon as they were pointed out, there they were! Neat. elf and karl must be playmates.
#29: Ruby Hammer (rubyqhammer) on Jun 11, 2013
I disagree Norma. I think elf was just trying to be funny in a sarcastic way. Unlike some of the comments I have read from "karl" who can be down right mean spirited.
#30: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jun 11, 2013
To each his own, I guess. I don't see the humor.
