The Cat's Eye Nebula is one of the most structurally complex of the planetary nebulas. Though many have been discovered within just the past ten years thanks to Hubble, this one was first observed in 1786. This article has more information, including the reason for the name "planetary nebula" (it has nothing to do with planets) and a picture of the Cat's Eye Nebula:

Teresa, that's 10,000 PLANETARY nebulae in our galaxy--there are other types of nebulae too! I don't know the total number off hand. (I haven't been assigned to write an article on other types, LOL!)
