What is best though is to visit in person. Mt. Graham is accessible by Swift Trail, which used to be a winding bumpy dirt road, with no camp site facilities. Now the road is paved and the observatory has become a tourist attraction.
Researchers from the University of Arizona’s Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research have discovered living trees that date back to AD 1257 and 1270. Botanists say the Douglas-fir has survived because the rocky cliffs of the mountains have served as a fire barrier.
What is really cool is that this Submillimeter Telescope helped scientists determine that there really is a black hole at the center of our galaxy. Read about this revelation and how the radio telescope works in this 2008 news article:#3: Jota (jota) on Sep 15, 2009

Thanks for a very informative entry.#4: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Sep 15, 2009
I guess you have to know what you are looking at. To me it is a very confusing design. Fun to learn about the telescope.#5: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 15, 2009
That's why I give you the link so you can see what it is supposed to look like. :-) If the grid were larger, I could design finer detail. I promise my next one will be very easy to recognize.#6: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 15, 2009 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Fun, and very nice. I did the green first, then the top black, and then the blue (some of it by color logic) and then was stuck. I used edge logic on the 4 in C20, eliminating the bottom square, and then it solved nicely.#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 15, 2009
It looked like a spaceship, which totally would have fit the theme, too.
Thanks, Adam.#8: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 16, 2009

Curioso puzzle. Me encantarÃa poder ir al monte Graham y que me dejaran mirar por el telescopio.#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 20, 2020
Mira más de cerca.
