I went to Bryn Mawr College, so this brings lots of memories, Thanks!#6: Rich Garrard (KCRich) on Aug 24, 2009
Nicely done. Smile logic is always fun to figure out.#7: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Aug 25, 2009

Found to be logically solvable by jan.#9: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 25, 2009
You'll notice that I had to rule on the uniqueness of the solution of this puzzle. It seems to give pbnsolve conniptions. Steve Simpson's solver was able to find a solution, but only after a long time. This is the smallest human-solvable puzzle I've seen that stumps the computer solving programs.#10: Gator (Gator) on Aug 25, 2009
I noticed that when I was designing it and used the checker. :)#11: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 25, 2009
By the way, you are welcome to rule on your own puzzles.#12: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 25, 2009
He has. At least on #6583.#13: Jane Doe (telly) on Aug 25, 2009
great image and fun solve...once again#14: Gator (Gator) on Aug 26, 2009
#2 - I don't believe in psychic connections either. Coincidences happen all the time though.#15: Jan Wolter (jan) on Nov 10, 2009
Thanks all!
This puzzle is one of the ones that I used as a sample puzzle in my Survey of Paint-by-Number Puzzle Solvers as an example of a fairly small, human solvable puzzle, that is never the less difficult for automated solving programs. Most solvers can actually cope with it pretty well, but mine can't.#16: Gator (Gator) on Nov 10, 2009I wonder if Gator would be willing to give permission to allow this puzzle to be freely redistributed as part of a standard test set for developers of new solving programs.
The attribution and copyright would be retained, though I'm not sure if copyrights in the name of a pseudonym actually have full legal force. They might. Copyright law is pretty liberal.
We must have posted at almost the same time. See your survey thread. :)#17: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on May 23, 2013 [HINT]
