Whoops, I meant logically solvable in a sudoku-sense. It was completely solveable as a webpn! And thanks to the number pattern, not nearly as annoying to solve as it might have been. But, as a sudoku, Ian's puzzle didn't work at all, especially as all the squares were already filled in. ;-)

Glad you were able to see the picture! (It's pretty easy as far as sudokus go - I haven't made very many.)

I did think of making my other one this size, but I decided to make it larger to define the numbers. Your use of the red around each nine square could also be used for the rest of the lines, just in a different color. That would make solving it much easier, but it would also let the numbers be more defined at this size. I also have a different idea for making a sudoku that would make it more compact (we'll have to see how that works later). The reason mine was a completed sudoku is I wanted to have it solvable by some paint by numbers logic, then solvable by sudoku logic and then be completely finished according to the web site.

*Note to Jan, when I tried to edit my original version of sudoku, it wouldn't open and I needed to make a new copy to get the final product.

BTW, I like the hidden picture :)

Yeah, I can see that - using blue for the inside lines, for instance. I can't wait to see how you're planning to shrink the size of the numbers!

And okay, I understand what you're saying about having a completed sudoku. I guess for me the problem was that I tend to solve pbns from the top down. And that made impossible for me to solve the puzzle by sudoku logic - which would require me to solve some numbers, but not others, scattered around the puzzle. Also once the pattern became obvious there really wasn't anything to do but fill in the numbers.

I'm glad you liked the hidden picture! :-)
