Puzzle Description:

Four more symbols. Yes that is a rain drop. No that is not a comb. Read the comments for the significance of these symbols.

Top left: The swirly inside the circle represents the four stages of life: infancy, youth, middle age, and old age.

Top right: The rain drop signifies plentiful crops.

Bottom left: The shape that looks like a comb is the symbol for rain to signify prosperity.

Bottom right: The two crossed arrows represent friendship.

I like the top left symbol best!

Me too, Meg. It was hard to keep it from looking like a swastika. Actually, as you and many others might already know, there is a Southwest native design called "whirling log" which looks just like a swastika. That Southwest design is seen in basket weaving, where the ends of a simple cross design are turned either to the right or left, depending on the direction of the weaving. The whirling log symbolizes many things, and is found in many ancient cultures, not just Native Americans.

I chose not to include the whirling log symbol in my puzzle series, because of the bad feelings the image might arouse. I'd rather make people feel good.

Another great quartet. My thanks for all your research to discover these symbols as well as the talent to convert them into puzzles.

My favorite is the bottom right, because of the ideas behind the image. Nice puzzle.

Nice puzzle, indeed!

Nifty puzzle, and educational too. Too bad the swastika has the connotations it has. It has always intrigued me as a shape, some sort of whirligig, or even a running person. But agreed, we can't use it for anything decent any more, it will always symbolize evil. Thanks for doing this series.
