Very interesting. I'm taking Physics right now, so it's surprising to hear that he accomplished so much in an area that wasn't even his main focus. Yes, looking at Newton's unpublished writings, it is clear that Newton was the greatest alchemist that ever lived. See Westfall, Never at Rest, Cambridge University Press, 1981.
