Puzzle Description:

The Ichthys is the Greek word for 'fish,' but it was used as a secret symbol for Christians under persecution and is today associated with Christianity. The letters are also an acronym for the Greek words "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior."

I found this an interesting puzzle to solve, because while I expected a fish I didn't expect letters inside. So it was a pleaseant challenge. Thanks.

Nice puzzle with an unexpected bonus.

When I got the I, I knew what it was going to be. Nice puzzle!

I would have liked to see a remark "religious" in the puzzle title.
#5: Sam Lin (sirsammy27) on Apr 10, 2009
Hi zandperl! I did modify the title, but I'm interested in the reason you thought "religious" should be in the title. Just wondering.

I don't know, Sam Lim, but maybe because of the description you gave, speaking of "religious" things like Jesus, God and Savior??? LOL. Why would you wonder about why Zandperl made his request?

Just interested in why the puzzle should be marked "religious," seeing as I don't see anything offensive about it. I had no idea just mentioning Christianity or Jesus or God could be offensive to people these days.

There is a puzzle on the site of a stripper dancing with a pole that has no offensive warning. I find that much more offensive than this.

I completely agree that religion should not be offensive at all. It's a shame that so many people take such offense. But alas, there are more than you realize who turn up their noses at religion, and scoff and the mere, even casual mention of deity.

Thank you for a nice informational puzzle. :)

Very nice. I remember my dad teaching me the meanings of the Greek letters when I was little. (Dad is a pastor) Whenever I see this particular kind of fish I hear the Greek words in my head.

The beginning sounds of each word all put together make "ichthus".

Newsflash: not everyone is a christian. Please mark as religious. The stripper should also be marked as adult, though they're unrelated issues. It's not offensive, just don't assume everyone shares your views.

You don't have to share views. It's a puzzle, not a request to follow beliefs. Let's mark the NFL team puzzles as football, in case someone is a baseball fan, or the comic book themed puzzles as DC, just in case someone is a Marvel fan. Wow. Lighten up.

There's no need to mark things as religious; that's ridiculous. What does making a puzzle have to do with assuming anything about someone's views? I enjoyed the puzzle very much, and the only people who've ever mistaken me for a Christian were atheists. Greek letters make me happy. :P

As a religious Jew who does not believe one iota in Christianity, I DO NOT FIND THESE PUZZLES OFFENSIVE! This puzzle is not preaching to me or telling me I have to believe as the puzzle maker believes. I find no problems with puzzles like these. In fact, to the contrary, now I learned something new and when I see these bumper stickers on people's cars, I know now something about the owner of the car. Thanks for the lesson.
