your right brain tries to say the color while the left brain insists to say the word

Very clever! I've seen this before - with a whole list of colors, and it is very difficult to do! It does feel like a conflict in your brain!

Why didn't you write the word "GREEN" in red color instead of "GRAY?" It just seems like that is what should have been done, since you used the other 2 colors in that way.

Hee, mixing the color/words does feel odd in the brain.

the Stroop effect!

Adam...lol...I thought the same thing since that would make it a "perfectly logical" puzzle...once, twice, three way puzzling fun because:

1)it's a pbn puzzle
2)the finished result has a secondary puzzle function of brain befuddlement and...
3)if the "gray" had been "green" the finished puzzle would have been logically predictable after the solving for the red squares!

I really got a kick out of this puzzle despite the fact it was so easy lol.

My roommate in my first year of college had this exercise in a psych class, and she said it was hard. She was admitted to the California State Bar when she was 25.

Too much white and very predictable.
