Puzzle Description:
Man wearing a top hat and top coat leaning against a balcony overlooking Paris in the 1800's.
#1: Arduinna (arduinna) on Feb 20, 2009 [SPOILER]
Amazing detail. And I could tell what everything was without the description. I can even see an awning at the top.#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 20, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Arduinna. I saw a painting somewhere that was similar to this, I don't remember where, but I do remember the awning and thought that would look nice in a puzzle. I redesigned the railing several times, and the buildings were very difficult. I spent a lot of time on this, getting it just the way I wanted.#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 20, 2009
Very nice, as always. Ditto #1.#4: Petra Lassen (stjarna) on Feb 20, 2009
Fantastic puzzle!#5: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Feb 20, 2009 [SPOILER]
I really liked the ironwork on the railing. Nice puzzle!#6: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 20, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thank you, Adam and Petra.#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 20, 2009 [SPOILER]
Did you know... (here comes the trivia)... that the 19th century is sometimes known as the Century of the Top Hat. In France, the dandies wore such outlandish top hats that they ran out of room for them in the cloakrooms. Then the collapsible top hat was invented.
Thanks, Meg. I designed it myself! lol#8: Ellen Vollor (evollor) on Feb 20, 2009
I really would like to have a collapsible top hat, because - get this - I am a magician! Yes, that's right. I do magic tricks along with my presentations. I figured that since my subject matter is so serious, it would be nice to lighten it up with a little fun.
Great puzzle! Thanks Teresa. I have never been to Paris, but I can see it in the puzzle.#9: Bionerd (nieboo) on Feb 20, 2009
Awesome puzzle and picture! Thanks!#10: Steve Johnson (swjohnson12) on Feb 20, 2009
Great puzzle! Is that man related in any way to the Simpsons?#11: Beth (Shasta) on Feb 21, 2009
Great puzzle. Thanks#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 21, 2009
Thanks, everyone.#13: Joseph Jessen (gijoex2) on Feb 21, 2009
Theresa, what do you do for "presentations?"#14: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 21, 2009
By the way, like everyone else said, great puzzle!
Thanks, Joe. To make my presentations magical, I turn lumps of coal into sparkling "diamonds." I make objects appear and disappear from Pandora's Box, I turn ice water into hot water, and the best trick of all is when I predict what choices a volunteer will make, proving there is no such thing as free will. LOL Of course, each trick makes a point that is part of the learning objectives.#15: wendy herndon (wendyherndon) on Feb 22, 2009
The real presentation is about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, not a fun subject. http://fasstar.com
Beautiful puzzle! I am still one-handed with my right arm in a cast (3 more weeks) but this one was well worth the extra time that one-armed PBN requires.#16: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Feb 22, 2009
Teresa, Thanks...this is why I frequent this site. I can count on an interesting puzzle, not way too easy with a nice visual at the end.#17: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 22, 2009
...I also appreciate your occasional twists.
Thanks, Wendy and JoDeen. Poor Wendy, that must be awful. What kind of puzzles are best for you right now? I'l make some just for you.#18: wendy herndon (wendyherndon) on Feb 22, 2009
Wow, thank you, Teresa! Sticking to 30 x 30 is easiest on the arm. But then, they're usually not as nice as the bigger ones. Thank you for all the wonderful ones you do.#19: doreen (doreenfanning) on Feb 22, 2009
very nice. Thank you!#20: Jane Doe (telly) on Feb 26, 2009
very nice and I can tell you spent time creating this. lots of details. I'd love to see your magic tricks. :)#21: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 26, 2009
Thanks, Doreen and Telly. Wendy, I have a few ideas for small ones, coming soon.#22: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Sep 21, 2009 [HINT]
Didn't see the railing until I read about it. Everything else is wonderfully clear. Fun puzzle.#23: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 21, 2009 [HINT]
Thanks, BlackCat. It's hard to see wrought iron when everything in the puzzle looks like wrought iron. :-)#24: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Feb 10, 2011
beautiful. i love it. fun to solve and incredible image.#25: Julio Parra (Julio Parra) on Oct 10, 2020
Gracias, Julio.#27: Julio Parra (Julio Parra) on Oct 30, 2020
