Might I suggest that the author work a number of other puzzles on this site to get an idea of how others design, construct, and make their puzzles solvable.
Not really sure what to do with this one. There are multiple solutions, but not many. You can solve most of it logically (at least Robert says you can - I used blind trial and error), but not all. The final image is just odd.#5: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 15, 2006

I agree that it might help to spend some time solving other peoples, and then try solving your own before publishing them, to check if they actually work.

And I'd like to respond to #3, and say that I hope it's never the case that people who post on the PBN site take all their cues from people who've already posted. I'd much prefer if everyone brought their own ideas to the table. If you don't like someone's puzzles, then don't do them, or if you do do them, give them poor quality ratings. I think there's plenty of room on the site for lots of different styles and difficulties of puzzles.
