Um, okay......
#2: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 9, 2009
Thanks for the great feedback, Adam.
#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 9, 2009
I guess it's because I don't understand what this is supposed to be, even after reading your description.
#4: Bionerd (nieboo) on Feb 9, 2009
I love nerd signs.

Um, OK ... I don't get it.
#8: Jan Wolter (jan) on Feb 10, 2009
You don't need to get it, but you do need to be polite. Other wise you are very likely to end up with your foot in a puddle, a fake moustache on your face, and a NERD sign on your back. Surely that's obvious enough.
#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 10, 2009
Hey Alconea, why did you edit your comment?

Here I was, trying ask if I should recognize your puzzle from anywhere, and then you end up being mean. Ok then. At least we know now that you are a true idiot, don't we. People already read your comments, and know what you said. So it doesn't really matter, and neither do your little WOT puzzles.
#12: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 10, 2009
But Adam, look at all the comments I'm getting. :) I'm pretty sure my puzzle matters to you or you wouldn't be my most popular fan.
#13: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 10, 2009
You look sillier and sillier each time you edit your comments. Keep it up! No, honestly the puzzle doesn't mean anything to me. Your "comments" (even though you edit each one) are the funny part.
#14: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 10, 2009
MUSTACHE!
#15: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 10, 2009
In case you decide to edit your comments, I will start posting them in any reply I may give, so people will actually know what you wrote before you changed it. Just for fun.

"Oh Adam, you know that I only make puzzles to please YOU. YOU are the only thing that matters. I see this now. THANK YOU THANK YOU for being here to matter."

Now you're talkin'!
#16: Joseph Jessen (gijoex2) on Feb 10, 2009
...or maybe the Kick Me sign taped on someone's back??
#17: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 10, 2009
Yes! Kick Me sign is also good! ^_^

/puts kick me sign on adam's back...er puzzles!!! :P:P:P:P
#18: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 10, 2009
Waaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiittttttttttttt............I feel a "last word" coming from Adam....................
#19: Jota (jota ) on Feb 11, 2009
About # 8, Jan are you implying I wasn't polite? I don't get it.
#20: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 11, 2009
That's what I thought, too, Jota. But I think he was probably referring to me. Everyone seems to wants to do that. :-)

You see, Jota, that is what I was trying to clarify in the former posts, before "someone" on here tried to make a big deal of this. I was trying to figure out what the basis for this puzzle's character was. I am glad you asked the same question.

No that is her whole body. She is small and cute with big black eyes. In Japanese we'd call her "chibi" :D
#25: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 11, 2009
Very small puzzles usually have images that are very obscure but ultimately recognizable. While working a puzzle, the brain looks for what is familiar and fills in the blanks. When the image is an object for which we have a mental image, the brain retrieves the possible images. When there is no image in our memory banks already, then this cannot occur while solving the puzzle, and then it is not all that fun for the solver. The "fun" is a little burst of dopamine or serotonin in the brain when we all at once recognize the image. Serotonin and dompamine are "feel good" neurotransmitters released in our brain through natural experience, medication, and/or substance use. This is why most webpbn "users" enjoy Vindersloon's Red Cat series, why they tolerate Shay's disregard of Jan's instructions, and why there was not a lot enthusiasm for this puzzle.

That is not a criticism of your puzzle, just an explanation of why some puzzles are more fun than others.
#26: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 11, 2009
Wow, Teresa, you should go into Psychology or something (if you aren't already). :-)
#27: Mara Alconea (alconea) on Feb 11, 2009
Wow Adam, you should win an award for Final Word.

Plus I'd say that what Teresa described is more physiological than psychological.
#28: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 11, 2009
Adam, I was interested in neurobiology as a young person, but never got to pursue that study seriously. Instead, I adopted kids with neurological and/or behavioral problems, and ended up studying neurobiology anyway as they grew up. :) When I went back to school, I studied normal psychology first in order to understand abnormal behavior. I continue to study neurobiology on a daily basis (when I'm not working on webpbn).

Mara, in order to understand the psychology of behavior, one needs to understand how the brain works, because all behavior is based on brain function. So in essence, psychology and physiology are intertwined.

Oh oh, looks like Adam didn't get the final word... yet. :0
#29: Jota (jota) on Feb 11, 2009
From now on I'll call them (see # 25) a NON-Fasstar puzzle. Kudos.
#30: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 11, 2009
Teresa, thanks for that lovely explanation. I think that is wonderful how you have done so much for those children in need!

And Jota... LOL!
#31: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 11, 2009
Thanks, Adam. Now that the kids are grown up, I continue to work with children and adults with cognitive disabilities (mostly FASD) and their families, and their service providers, and their case managers, and their doctors, and their teachers. Whew.

I am still obsessed with why people do what they do, disabled or not. So the webpbn community is an interesting arena in which to continue my studies. :)

Now if I could just get paid for my "work" here!
#32: Jota (jota) on Feb 11, 2009
You'll become a millionaire!
Love comments 25 on.
#33: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 11, 2009
I will pay you a million webpbn bucks; how about that? :-)
#34: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 11, 2009
Ooooh, thanks, Adam. Then I can buy all the webpbn puzzles my heart desires! And I will give Jan a share of that for all the real work he does here. :)

Jota, a million dollars is in my past, but not my future. Did you know that I won the lottery? Almost exactly 20 years ago. $1 million over 20 years. Here's the news story that was published about it recently:

#35: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Feb 11, 2009
What an amazing story! Congratulations! Sorry your money has run out, though.
#36: Jota (jota) on Feb 12, 2009
You are an amazing and blessed person. I admire you. I respect you,
#37: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 12, 2009
Thanks, Adam. I was hoping that some rich person would read that article and like what I did with the first million and want to give me another mil to continue my work. Didn't happen. Sigh

Thanks, Jota. In the long run, admiration and respect is more fulfilling than money. But wouldn't it be nice to have all three all the time!
#38: Starbuck (brilliant_road) on Feb 12, 2009
Cute image. It's very odd...
#39: Jan Wolter (jan) on Feb 12, 2009
Wow, Theresa, that's a seriously impressive story. We are honored to have you among us.
#40: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 12, 2009
Gee thanks, Jan. I'm the one who is honored to be in the company of so many talented, fun people. I may be spending more time here (and less money elsewhere) as the state division of developmental disabilities (where I work part time) is planning to cut all part-time positions soon. As long as I have money for Internet and computer, I'll be happy.

This is cute and I love the little story. :D

Interesting how some people just run away with themselves on things like this.

Wow! (In response to all the comments.) Funny what a little puzzle can start.
