"Simplify, simplify, simplify." That's what Henry David Thoreau told his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, to which Emerson said something like, "I think one simplify would suffice."#3: Jane Doe (telly) on Jan 30, 2009

Why, candles, feathers for quill pens, ink made from berries and bark, and precious paper on which to write his words of wisdom, and to do paint-by-number puzzles. (He had to have something to do on rainy days!)#6: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 31, 2009

very nice - and i could do this - that is, live simply. i only discovered this in 2008 when i had to move and gave up a lot of "stuff". i "collected" vintage tins, americana, primitive dolls, children's books, etc. it was only after giving all of these things up that i saw that it wasn't i who owned the things, rather the things owned me. thanks for a reminder of that in this puzzle, t. :-)#9: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Mar 8, 2011 [SPOILER]
