So what is the Danish word for dove and/or pigeon?
#10: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jan 13, 2009 [SPOILER]
due with sound most like dove so I forget pigeon... what is the differens betwin a dove and a pigeon?
#11: Mary Thomas (marleethom) on Jan 13, 2009
There isn't a lot of difference. Pigeons are part of the dove family, a subset? Pigeons are dirty, live in city parks. Doves are clean, live in the country and have their own hunting season. City pigeons seldom get eaten that I know of.

cool thanks for the info... i figured something like that

We get doves here in my Canadian city. They're smaller than pigeons, and sort of a light speckled grey colour. They hang out with the pigeons, and make a funny noise when they fly away. I didn't know they were any cleaner!

very nice image

A pigeon is also called a rock dove. They're both.:)

Meg, I think, is thinking of a mourning dove.
#16: Gary Webster (glwebste) on Dec 17, 2022 [SPOILER]
Meg is right; they're not really cleaner. We get a lot of mourning doves in suburban Denver, and they're basically just pigeons!

Pigeons are often called flying rats by the unenthused

Morning doves are the worst--landing on the roof right outside my bedroom window, waking me up with their "whoOOOooo, hoo, hoo, hoo"... When's their hunting season? :)
(Just kidding; they're cute; I wouldn't hurt them.)
Great image.

Pigeons are also called rock doves. As for mourning doves, my dad always called them Dopey Doves.
