Design question: I find puzzles that are not displayed in multiples of five pixels a little confusing and thus, better to have blank rows/columns. Would it be better to center the image or keep all the blanks to one side?#2: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jun 30, 2006
I agree that blank columns are better than not being a multiple of 5. I especially dislike having a set of four columns left over, since I'm always mistaking them for a set of five.#3: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jun 30, 2006
Centered or not? I dunno. Whatever looks best, I guess. Usually that's centered, but depends on the subject, I guess.
Having solved this, I think it's fine the way it is.#4: Dave Tallman (RockSunner) on Jun 30, 2006
Incidentally, Puzzle #107 is a quite different puzzle on the same timely theme.
I liked the way the rough spots made this more challenging. Good puzzle.#5: (Private) (cyclone) on Jul 1, 2006
I say make it big enough to fit multiples of five, personally.#6: Arduinna (arduinna) on Mar 19, 2008
I tend to tweak my own puzzles to make them fit into a multiple of five: bigger hair here, longer leg there, but it doesn't always work. Better to have a puzzle that's good looking and fun to solve (like this one) and keep the white space in than to mess it up to make it fit.#7: John Schuerzinger (zinger3000) on May 30, 2008
I agree with the previous comments about keeping the number of rows and columns equal to a multiple of 5, since I'm always used to counting in multiples of 5. Adding blank rows/columns (to bring the total to a multiple of 5) is fine with me.#8: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Jul 27, 2008
That was tough!#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 16, 2009
Interesting use of asymmetry.#10: Byrdie (byrdie) on Dec 25, 2009
Muddled through a couple sticky points but always found one little clue here and there. A fun puzzle to solve.#11: CB Paul (cbpaul) on Nov 16, 2018
I like that the image is kind of abstract, rather than a more literal, realistic view.#12: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Dec 24, 2020
Nice. No guessing.
