Good design and concept. Had to rely on the error checking to do my counting for me since the puzzle is taller than my screen can fit.

But turning off the navigation and bookmark toolbars I was able to get most of the puzzle on my screen in Firefox. It might be cool if there were a setting you could set to a 90 degree rotated version of the puzzle. In this case, a sideways version would easily fit on most screens. I think that goes around #1000 on my to-do list.

Interesting puzzle.

Yea, I am finding the tall design rather awkward. I even have to turn the error checker off toward the bottom left since my computer takes an inordinate amount of time to check. That plus one of my twins has discovered the mouse and thinks its a nifty chew toy, i haven't even been able to complete the puzzle myself--and I posted it! oh well, one of many design lessons.

OK, the babies are asleep. I'm finally able to edit out five lines of the length which should make the puzzle a little less frustrating to work.

Come on guys...don't like it on-screen, do what I do: print em. =)
#10: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jul 2, 2006
You know, I never print anything anymore. I go months at a time without printing, and then it's usually a coloring page for the kids, a sheet of paper to load into the fax machine and then throw away, or a test of the PDF's for this site. I can't remember the last time I printed something because I wanted a printout of it. Different strokes....

Great job! I know this took a lot of work to make it solvable. It's a nice challenge.

Fascinating puzzle. The way the shape of the focus of the puzzle was worked was truly amazing.

For me the puzzle just fit. F11 was enough for breathing room (using Firefox, though IE would also work obviously).

The puzzle itself was pretty good. Bit of work eking out the squares near the end, but not actually difficult.

Funny and great puzzle.

I can confirm that F11 works in IE. I`ve used it a lot since i read about the short cut F11 on this site. (Maybe it was Naomi who mentioned it in a previous comment too.. :-) ...) Cool feature.

And cyclone.. lol. I print em too sometimes. I`m so addicted that it`s hard to do without them. Always have atleast one in my bag, one beside my bed... And never go on vacation without a map full of puzzles ;-) .

great puzzle. I really enjoyed this one and the image is interesting to look at.

My goodness that was hard!

Sometimes if I really like a puzzle after I solve it, I print it out and solve it again and hang it on my office wall. I even bought some map pencils! And actually, I guess I'm really vain because most of the ones I have hanging up are my own!

An interesting puzzle, but really less hard than it was rated in my opinion.

Jan's link to the original Charley Harper print no longer works. Here is another: http://fabframes.wordpress.com/2010/08/09/bird-prints-by-charley-harper/. Since I made this puzzle,
Charley Harper passed away. He was one of my favorite wildlife artists.

Odd image. Fun solve.
