I like bats. We're going to build a bat hutch when we have property. I don't think our neighbors would appreciate it where we live now.

I recently was forced to move (long story) from the farm I lived on. When I first moved there I remember standing outside the old farmhouse I was living in and counted thirty bats that flew out of the chimney. They were spending the days between the bricks and the metal flue pipe that someone had installed at a later date. Should mention that I stopped counting at 30 and that I'm sure I missed some. Didn't mind them tho because of their diet: mosquitos.

Bats are cool...kinda scary in mass though.

There's a bridge in Austin TX where thousands of bats live. People gather around every night to watch them fly out at sundown. (Actually, according to the website where I got this picture, 1.5 million of them-- wow!) Anyway, I got to see them when I went to a music festival down there last year. Very cool!

I've been with biologists netting bats for study. After we were done for the night, I went up the entrance of the mine that they were roosting in. They whirred past my head by the hundreds. It was quite amazing.

Oh, a bat face. I was thinking this would be something much worse.
