I wonder if I dare to ask the dreaded question..... How old are we? Or perhaps it would be more interesting to answer how old we are in "puzzling years" (how many years we have been solving this kind of puzzle. Just to get it started I am 32 in Earth years and started paint-by-numbers more than 15 years ago but I had a real long dry spell. Thanks to Jan I never have to worry about starving again.#2: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Aug 28, 2007
I was wondering when someone's curiousity and manners got the better of them and asked this question, and I am glad it wasn't me, even though I was just as curious too and was wondering how I could find out, I can sort of work out the general age of most of the regulars on this site, from things written. I will not say how old I am, because a person who was born in 1971 and only has 3 1/2 years until they turn 40 wants everybody to think that they are much younger than they actually are. So sorry Judy. But thankyou for sharing your age with us. I wasn't too far off with my guestimate of your age. I only discovered these puzzles 2 years ago from the pixel puzzle books, I started off with sudoku and then kakuro and went to the pixel puzzle books, but the books were very expensive and they only came out every three months and I would finish them within two weeks so I went on an online search and found this site. These are the only puzzles I do now, love them and love Jan for creating this site and love all the puzzle creators, and love all the great chat that happens. Just love it all! :)#3: m2 (mercymercy) on Aug 28, 2007
I agree with you totally about all the loving.#4: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 28, 2007
Is it the impatience of youth that made the youngest ask first? Brett Butler had an old line, where when she was asked if she was pushing 40, she replied, "Pushing 40? Honey, I'm dragging 40 behind me in a little red wagon". It's not as effective when you don't get to see each other face to face, but I prefer to add some years to my age rather than subtract. For example, if you are really 35, but say you are 40, wow are you in great shape! Whereas if you say you are only 30, people talk behind your back about how terrible you look for only being thirty.#5: m2 (mercymercy) on Aug 28, 2007
Can we use dog years?
I admit that I am impatient but I highly doubt that I am the youngest. Actually I really hope that I'm not cause I'm always the youngest in the group. I've even decided to move into the old folks home when I'm 50 cause all of my friends will be there. My husband who is 22 years older than me says that he wants to live to be 120. I told him I have no intention of being around to take care of him then.#6: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 28, 2007
As for dog years. You can use any kind of years you want as long as you include a conversion table.
I'm 48, and, in case you're confused by my name, male.#7: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 28, 2007
I haven't really been doing these puzzles long. I only did a couple before I created this website. In the first years of the site, I created most of the puzzles, so for a long time I had the unique distinction of having created more PBN puzzles than I'd solved.
M2, twenty one years ago, your husband was 3 times as old as you. Ten years ago, he was twice as old as you. In twelve years, he'll only be one and a half times as old as you. At that rate, by the time he's 120, you'll have caught up and passed him in age!#8: m2 (mercymercy) on Aug 28, 2007
Jan, you may not have puzzled a lot, but you obviously know your way around a computer quite well. Your comments on rating also reveal the professor/grading background. I am impressed.
The worst part is that everybody thinks we are the same age. I don't know if it is cause I look old or if he is just STILL immature.#9: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 28, 2007
Ditto Marz's love, love love comments. Well put Marz.#10: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 28, 2007
I'm so old I can't remember when I first saw a pbn puzzle! I remember that it was in the back of a Penny Press logic mag. I've been so spoiled by this site now that I can't imagine going back to paper and pencil. It's all your fault Jan! Seriously this site is very well thought out. I think the best one out there. Well done lad! hehe I'm older than you are :p
Thank you M2 for asking the question. It's funny how knowing someone's age helps to know them better (hopefully without prejudice).
I married a man 14 years older than me. My friends say that I still look younger than him. Or perhaps my friends tell me this because after 35 years my ex and I have parted ways and they wish to make me happy. They are after all my FRIENDS.
May I ask the next very nosey question? Has the age difference ever been an issue?
As to my age, this year I am 51 and in my prime. (Sorry, number jokes are not my forte.)
Marz, you mentioned being a pisces. May I ask what your BD is? It would be a kick if we were birthday twins!
Psst! JC, we can't see each other. Jan hasn't created that feature here yet. In my mind, you all look beautiful and are just the perfect age. ^>^
Thanks again M2!
Then my grammer school teacher was wrong! 51 is a prime number afterall! And I'll be 44 this december.#11: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Aug 28, 2007
Jan's working on the smell'o'puzzle next (I forget the topic number) not the seeing each other.
To Gypso, my birthday is the 24th of Feb 1971 :)#12: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 28, 2007
Does that mean you were born on the cusp?#13: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 28, 2007
Marz, so close, I'm on the 21st of Feb. Oh well, we could still be birthday week twins. Who's to tell us we can't? :)#14: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Aug 28, 2007
JC, given your earlier comment (#4) does this mean that you're really 39? Which date in December?
Hey, what's everyone's birthday?
We are close, birthday week twins sounds fine to me. Well I thought I was close to the cusp but you Gypso are right there, Im glad you are a pisces, not that there is anything wrong with aquarius, that is my moon sign I think, I try not to get too involved into all of the astrological stuff, too complicated :)#15: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 29, 2007
My youngest, Jacob, is an Aquarius. Feb. 4th. It's a big birthday month! I used to know all the planet/sign stuff but I now primarily focus on the moon and her phases. Much more in keeping with a Pisces! hehe#16: m2 (mercymercy) on Aug 29, 2007
To answer the age difference question, I thought that since he was so much older that he would be mature. Silly me! I have come to find out that he stopped developing at the age of 12 or at least that is what he says and I've seen enough evidence to agree with him. So yes I find it very difficult to be married to a pre-teen. Though I suppose it would have been worse if he made it 2-3 more years.#17: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 29, 2007
I'm still hoping for a puzzler to announce they are younger than me. *tapping fingers on the table*
What do you mean I haven't added a feature allowing you to see each other? This whole site is about nothing but pictures! You're supposed to enter self-portrait puzzles.#18: Z Trn (naihatsu.1) on Aug 29, 2007
And in the next release you'll be able to smell each other too.
Alright, alright M2. I get the hint.#19: m2 (mercymercy) on Aug 29, 2007
I am 22, though I am certain I am not the youngest puzzler here either. February 6. 1985 for the birthday, which makes me an Aquarius. By the Chinese zodiac I am a rat.
Now about looking younger or older... Generally, when I tell people I've finished school they will assume high school and ask if I have decided on a major/college. However, there was this one time that a woman who had never met my mother but knew that she has three college aged children mistook me for her. So I guess I look anywhere from 17 to 48 years old.
Hmm, now that I think of this more, I've decided to change my answer to 53. That way, even those who think I am 48 will be taken aback by how young I look. Sorry M2, it seems that I am now the oldest who dared answer.
lol I thought I smelled a rat.#20: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 29, 2007
to Gypso, no, it means if we had met face to face, I'd've said I was 48. December 8, which is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day in the catholic calendar. I was in parochial school in first grade and got my birthday off. Image the surprize when I went to public school the next year, "but mom, i don't have to go to school today. It's my birthday!" Suffice it to say that school and I did not get along well for the first few years. Oh, and it is spelled "faces".#21: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 29, 2007
Marz, will you please get your kids to post their ages? M2's finger-drumming is really getting to me, and I bet her fingers are getting tired, too.
Jan, please wait until a Sunday to release: Saturday night baths and all.....
Lol M2, ah the funny things we believe about the older men in our lives. Sounds like the age difference has little bearing on your happiness. Am so very glad :)#22: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 29, 2007
Yah Z Trn! Another February birthday twin! And Aquarius to boot! Gotta love those February Aquarians. Happy that you relieved M2's digit twitch.
JC, you have the infamous birthday! You and James Thurber, Jim Morrison and sorry to say (given earlier comments) Phil Collins. Good month! *aside* "faces"?
lol Jan, you're absolutely correct about the self portrait feature. Can't believe I overlooked that.
Perhaps you should rethink the smell'o version.
Gyps, (yeah, the "o" is only one more letter, but it's also a whole nother syllable!), I'm used to hearing that it's Donny Osmond too. Oh yeah, and Lennon's death day. Happy 17th to me!#23: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 29, 2007
Faces: when the moon, she makes faces at you. I think you spelled it with a "ph-". |}
Ohhh, JC, so sorry about your 17th. What a sad thing to happen on your birthday.#24: Petra Lassen (stjarna) on Aug 30, 2007
I've considered your spelling variant on phases. I like yours much better! Captures the spirit *>* (again, moonstruck). Thanks for reminding me.
I'm another aquarius! Born Feb 8, 1968, which makes me 39. Or 19 years, 6 months, 22 days as of today!#25: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 30, 2007
Was that a slip of the finger, Petra (or do you prefer stjarna?) or did you drop 19 years, 5 mo's and 8 days between sentences?#26: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Aug 30, 2007
Sign of cancer, anybody? I've been 45 since July 21, but too lazy to count the days.#27: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 30, 2007
Yet another February BD twin! Welcome to the FBD Club Petra :)#28: My Johansson (villinte) on Aug 31, 2007
Tons of July BD's in my family circle Barbarann, none are on this site however. Happy Belated BD BTW. Who else is in July out there?
I was born 1982, so I'm 25 years old. I'm not sure I want to tell my sign... They're so egocentric and obsessive according to horoscopes. Maybe one of you can guess?#29: Martial (marso) on Nov 3, 2007
Assuming that life starts at 40, I'm only 12 years old.#30: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 31, 2007
I'm a Lion, and had my birthday on the 14th of August.
To My Johansson (#28), what name do you prefer to go by? This is just a guess on your sign; are you a Virgo? If not, please give me another clue.#31: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 31, 2007
To Marso (is this the name you prefer?) A very happy belated recent birthday to you! Did I read somewhere that you were to become a grandfather? How's that going? I've really enjoyed the snippets of Zohar's Aussie adventure. Anything new?
Villinte, I'd have to go with Sagitarius. But what I know about horoscooes could fill a thimble.#32: nancy king (naneki) on Aug 31, 2007
Wow, I thought maybe I was the oldest one here, but J.C. Andersons got me beat by one year, turned 50 this last July..I've been doing these puzzles as long as I can remember...LOVE them!!#33: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 31, 2007
Sorry, Naneki, you must have me mistaken for someone older (tho' undoubtedly wiser).#34: Gypso (Gypso) on Aug 31, 2007
JC, if you're referring to me (undoubtedly wiser) I wouldn't be so sure! ^>^#35: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Aug 31, 2007
Naneki, I have you beat by 1 year. If my figuring is correct, I think that Marso (#29) is also a member of our half century club. Yes! I've begun another club. Congrats on turning 50! Isn't it fun? :D
Of course. I could see you blushing from here as I was typing. And modesty is a good trait too. The rest of us will have to wait to join the Senior Tour.#36: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 1, 2007
Hey! You kids! Get off my lawn!#37: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 1, 2007
Aw geez. Gramma's got hold of the 150 proof geritol again.#38: My Johansson (villinte) on Sep 1, 2007
Patricia, well, my real name is My (and it's female if you wonder), but written conversations in English can get confusing when using that name. Villinte will be fine.#39: Z Trn (naihatsu.1) on Sep 1, 2007
And for another clue about my sign, here's something I cut from the Wikipedia; "They are like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea; it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity, and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil, but watchful composure of XXXXX. In conventional social gatherings they are pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation, dignified, and reserved, yet affable and courteous; they sometimes possess penetrating eyes which make their shyer companions feel naked and defenseless before them. They can be quite combative toward their opponents, giving no quarter in an argument or dispute. Yet most of their aggression is unleashed from a defensive posture" But I'm not that scary for real. ;)
Villinte, you must be a Scorpio. The same as my sister (and she can be that scary for real).#40: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 1, 2007
I believe astrology is a bunch of hooey, so it's a bit of an embarassment that the Wikipedia's description of "Aquarius" totally matches me.#41: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 1, 2007
Villinte, I believe that Z Trn has it. You are a Scorpio. My grandfather, father, brother, first born son and sister-of-the heart are all Scorpios. I feel another birthday club coming on... There must be a BD twin with you amongst all those. I think that you have overlooked the wonderful qualities of Scorpio "hood". Such as determination, imagination, magnetic personality as well as healing abilities. My son Graff fits all those descriptions. Also Scorpio women are awesome in oh so many other ways! ^>^#42: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 2, 2007
Spoken like a true Aquarius Jan. (teasing) Just remember that even a broken clock is right twice a day. Could it possibly be that you're a member of the February BD club too?
JC, (re. #4) it's so weird that you tell people you are older than you are because I do the same thing! I just can't ever remember how old I am, so I pick an age and stick with it for a while. I skipped from 21 to 25, and I've been 30 for several years now. So, now that I'm actually 30, I'm still trying to decide which year to jump to next.#43: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 2, 2007
And Jan, I assumed you were a man, but I don't know why. I actually do know a man named Jan, so maybe that's it!
Nope, not a member of the February club, though close.#44: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 2, 2007
Ah, then it's January Jan. Wait! January Jan? Coincidence?#45: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 2, 2007
I don't recall any other January birthdays. I think that makes you the President of the January BD Club. No worries, you just set the agenda and chair the meetings. ^>^
Jan is a very common Swedish name for males.#46: My Johansson (villinte) on Sep 2, 2007
Scorpio it is. November 15th is my birthday Speaking of birthdays, almost all people that's close to me has their birthday somewhere between September and December. I am constantly broke this season. And it peaks in November, when I have four people to buy birthday gifts for in two weeks. Poor me(pun intended)!#47: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 2, 2007
I have the same problem Villinte! I guess adoption into my family would be a financial hardship.#48: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 3, 2007
Relying on my memory (a foolish idea), I think that you too are the president of your November BD Club.
Congratulations! ^>^
ARduinna, that's pretty much closer to the truth how it happened to me, I got tired of doing the math, so i picked a year in the future and just was that old for a while. I think it was 36 at the time. But I've never had someone not slowly back away, while nodding and talking in a soothing voice when I've tried to explain it. Thank you for being on the same page!#49: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 3, 2007
Oops..my bad (sorry JC) & Thanks Gypso, yes being "over the Hill" has it's advantagements...like messing up, you have an excuse "I'M OLD!!"#50: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 3, 2007
Oops again "advantages"#51: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 3, 2007
J.C., I'm going with the theory that our superiorly logical minds (as evident from our love of logic puzzles) leave us little time to focus on insiginificant details such as age.#52: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 3, 2007
We're not crazy. Definitely not! No way.
Arduinna, the Boar Goddess: I'll go with that. Great minds think alike. But then again so do feeble ones, but I'm not going to tell anyone.#53: Naomi Millar (sailormewtwo) on Sep 3, 2007
I'm 20, birthday on June 9th. That'd make me a Gemini :)#54: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 4, 2007
My puzzle age is about 10-ish months. I found this site sometime in December, and discover pbn puzzles a couple weeks previously.
Happy belated "no longer a teenager but still too young to legally drink" birthday Naomi. May I ask what you prefer to be called while on this site?#55: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 4, 2007
I loved your union jack! Wait a minute are you from England? If so, the whole "legally drink" comment may not pertain.
I'm losing track, but you may be the first June birthday posted. If so, welcome to your very own birthday club. We gotta recruit more June babies!
Seeing as you're a Gemini, does this mean that you'll be posting twice as many puzzles? ^>^ Gypso
I guess the login name "sailormewtwo" gives pretty strongly suggests that Naomi couldn't have been over 30. If I didn't have kids, I'd probably not get both of those references.#56: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 4, 2007
Okay, is it some kind of anime? Pokeman? I give, sailormewtwo.#57: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 4, 2007
Catchin' late on this interesting forum but i'm going 30 by year end#58: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 4, 2007
So Sylvain, what's your birth date? End of year would suggest December. ^>^#59: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 4, 2007
30th to be exact#60: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 4, 2007
Very nice, a Capricorn. You and JC are both in December! Enjoy these last few months as a twenty something. You'll love 30! ^>^#61: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 5, 2007
Some people enjoy 29 for decades.#62: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 5, 2007
That's true. My grandfather for instance. But why stay 29 when you can be in your thirties? The only age I didn't enjoy were the awkward teens.#63: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 5, 2007
I agree with you, Gypso. Some people wish they could go back to high school, but I wouldn't wish the teenage years on anyone! The only problem that I have with being in my 30s is that I'm still in school!#64: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 5, 2007
That's great that you're in school Theresa! What are you taking? I don't think that we can ever get too old to learn.#65: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 5, 2007
The ones bother me. Well, not bother, but they seem to be the out casts at least after 21. People take you out to lunch, go for drinks or what ever, for 30, 40, etc. Thirty one, forty one, people don't give a rat's. Even numbers are acceptable, 5's and 0's are milestones, and 3's and 7's are cool because 3 & 7 are magical by themselves. But not 1's. They are a let down after the 0 year, and well, everyone knows that 1 is the lonliest number. And that is a quote from (I believe) 3 dog night. Not one dog night, but three dog.#66: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 5, 2007
Lol JC. I'm with you on 3 and 7 being magical.#67: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 5, 2007
Hmmm, maybe I'll stay 30 for awhile then. Or should I skip to 33?#68: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Sep 5, 2007
English is what I'm taking! I got my MA a few years ago, but I missed school so much I decided to go back. ;) I guess after I get this degree I'll have to start over in another field. Did I read that JC is an English grad student?
On my 27th birthday, a co-worker jokingly asked me if I was "29 again"! Boy, did that make me feel beautiful!#69: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 5, 2007
Good for you Theresa and congratulations. Please don't be too harsh about my poor grammar. ^>^#70: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 5, 2007
Babarann you don't look a day over 20! I just noticed your name. Are you a Babar fan?
Babarann, worse things can be asked. I have a memory as a child of being in the room when our portly neighbor was asked when she was due, and even at 8 or 9 I knew something was wrong with that, and the ensuing silence reaffirmed the suspicion.#71: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Sep 5, 2007
Boar Queen, I roomed with Eng. grad students, I dated them, I was friends with them, I loved and hated them, I ate with them, I philosophized with them, but I never was one of THEM.
Bachelor's in Lit and Creative writng english, but not beyond. Instead went to law school. You tell me who took the wrong fork in the road. And skip to 33. Saves 3 years having to memorize a new number.
Gypso, you make me blush! My name is Barbara Ann, as in the Beach Boys' Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Babarann. (Apologies to all who will have the song stuck in their heads now!)#72: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 5, 2007
Lol Babarann. With the story and the song in my brain maybe I won't misspell it anymore! ^.^#73: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 5, 2007
THat its I got it stuck on auto repeat....thank a lot :)#74: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
Having that song stuck in your head is alot better than the stupid jingle that was stuck in my head, Thank you!#75: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
I can't think of the barbarann song without flashing to a very young John Travoleta singing "Bar-bar-bar, bar-bar-barino". Try and get that unstuck!#76: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
Ah..your showing ur age#77: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
Showing proudly, mind you. And the "ur" shows yours. Hee hee hee!#78: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
too much of me kids influence#79: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
like my grammer - boy do I need sleep#80: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 6, 2007
So which birthday club do you belong to Naneki? Perhaps we could have another sign guessing...^v^#81: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 6, 2007
Gypso, I never, never, never correct anyone's grammar unless it's a student turning in an essay. I learned long ago that everyone HATED me when I did that! Besides, being from OK, there ain't no way to avoid bad grammar! ;) My mother-in-law says "warshed" for "washed" and double negatives are a way of life!#82: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 6, 2007
JC, I take great offence at that! I am not one of THEM-- I am one of US. I actually got my MA in lit. but am now going for a PhD in composition and rhetoric, which is almost an entirely different field. Honestly, drunken graduate students blabbing about Derrida and Lacan does get old after a while.
So, update for everyone, I am now 33.
My mom used to say warshed as well. She lived her pre-teen years in Utah and Washington state so I assume that she picked it up there. Then I had a young neighbor from Wisconsin who did the same. I have no idea what culture it stems from. Anyone have an idea?#83: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
I'm so glad Theresa that you won't be correcting me. Now I can freely misspell, use poor grammar and make vague comments without any trepidation! *v*
Is today you birthday Theresa? Are you really 33 or did you skip there? Tra la la la la :)
Maybe it's the Pittsburgh-ese, but we never worshed the clothes, but after we washed them, we RINCHED the soap out of them.#84: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 6, 2007
Arduinna, which is worse, the drunken grads or the overcaffeinated, way too early in the day ones?
No, I'm just skipping-- I do that. My b-day isn't until March. Aries on the cusp of Pices. I think that makes me neurotic.#85: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
And, I'm never there for the early ones. Maybe I spend too much time with the dunken ones?
I turned 50 in July, so I'm an older Leo & People say I totally fit my sign#86: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
That dam yin/yang one or the other grad student types!#87: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Sep 6, 2007
JC, did yinz go dahn tahn after you redd up? (To all who don't speak Pittsburghese, these are not typos. I'm not jagging ya!)#88: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 6, 2007
Naneki, at the risk of repeating my own question, what date in July? And in case I haven't said this before (which as you've certainly noticed I do) Happy 50th Birthday! *v*#89: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 6, 2007
JC you did it I got the song and the image stuck rigth in front of me now and it won't go away#90: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 6, 2007
Gypso - the 26th#91: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
If we dint, we dint go t' Isleys for chippedham and klondikes (tho' you can get those everywhere now). How baht chew, jeet chet?#92: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Sep 6, 2007
What part are you from? I'm from Homestead, was born across the street in Munhall (the hospital is still there, but now it's an old folks home). My great aunts still live in the house they were born in that my great grandfather built, the oldest is 95 yoa.
I'm from the South Hills. I never really had the strong accent, although I must say that after relocating, it took awhile to get over saying gumbands! I still refuse to say soda -- it's pop! When we get together with our friends from Brookline I feel like they're speaking another language, which I guess they really are, it's Pittsburghese!#93: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 6, 2007
Oh, don't look now . . . Kennywood's Open!!!
Zowie! My cousin just took his kids to Kennywood a couple weeks ago for the first time, and my cuz wasn't even born in PA! Did you guys drink Regent pop? I remember it came in bottles with a chubby faced, crown wearing dude as the logo, and on special occasions there'd be buckets filled with ice, regent (in all the dozen or so flavors and colors) and Iron city. As kids we'd try to drink one of every color, and the older kids would bring beers to the adults, drinking half the bottle before they got there.#94: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
Once in a while someone will call me on my "accent" though I've been out of there almost 40 years.
Speaking of accents... I've got a VERY muddled accent and often get strange looks and "Where are you FROM?" :D My standard answer is, "A little bit of everywhere." ;)#95: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 6, 2007
Don't start me on accent it seem that even tought I can speak fluently in english with a relative ease, the moment I open my mouth people know I'm from Québec and that I usualy speak french.#96: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
No offense, mon ami, but you didn't even have to open your mouth for all of us to know...#97: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 7, 2007
LOL Sorry Sylvain, but I CAN'T think of you as anything but Quebecois! (I hope I spelled that right) ^>^#98: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Sep 7, 2007
I wish I could hear your voice Sylvain, I am a bit of a sucker for a french accent, but I do get a little of it in your writing, hope it stays the same :)#99: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 7, 2007
JC its not fair if you think of us as if we're all looking like the snowbird who crash Florida each winter. We are not like that and for a matter of fact we tend to expel those white sock to the knee snowbird as far as we can.#100: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Sep 7, 2007
After all not all american are obese....or are they?
Hi, I wanted comment #100 and I wanted to share a lovely quote I read today. "Never look down on anybody unless you are helping him up" :)#101: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 7, 2007
Hey I resemble that remark! I can't help it I have white skin. And socks are just plain comfy.#102: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
And Marz, really, did you have to? Just to get the 100th comment? he he he
Looks like I asked a good question to get so many comments. Even if I am impatient!
NO,no,no,no, Sylvain, I was refering to the fact that we have a silent forum here. It is true that we've never heard each other speak. Although, in my head, I've already assigned most everyone on here a voice. We have more than our share of whitesocks here, old guys wearing speedo bathing suits looking like olive smugglers, with no shirts, white chest hair covered with fat gold necklaces. If we could cook them, we'd solve world hunger. Soylent Green!#103: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
Not all are obese. Just look at any fashion magazine. Skeleton thin is in!
Thanks Marz, hope it was a great one! Suppose you guys are probably just sitting down to supper? Glad you are always there to lighten the mood. You must run a pretty happy household.
M2, what was the question?#104: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 7, 2007
lol how old are you?#105: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 7, 2007
Speaking of accents (which we were, at some point, really!) I've always had a tendency to unconsciously pick up accents from people I hang around, maybe because I just love accents (all accents). This got kind of weird when I was a professor. I was living in Texas, but my best friends grew up in India, China, Russia, and (yes, believe it or not) Philadelphia. People would look at me funny and say "where are you from?" Um, sorry, just a plain vanilla Midwesterner. That's all kind of faded away now, though I think I have some Texas left in my speech.#106: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
I keep thinking I should listen the "Thistle & Shamrock" on the radio more, because Fiona Ritchie has my favorite accent in the entire universe, and if I'm going to pick up an accent, that should be the one. But I don't think I can do it on purpose.
you have to be careful. A sexy accent on a woman can sound awful on a guy. Like a southern drawl. Then there was the southern fellow I knew who didn't want to lose his drawl, because he liked us yankees to believe that he thought as slow as he talked.#107: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 7, 2007
JC if you cook those "olive smuggler" be sure to keep me two part of it ....#108: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
Which parts? Reminds me of an old joke. (what else in new, right?) Well, these two martians are visiting New York and they see a Soylent Green Dog vendor -- Oh wait! I can't tell that one here!#109: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
*groan* I see where this is going. *rolls eyes*#110: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Sep 7, 2007
I do the same thing Jan, like you I love accents and I just get carried away listening, I dont really hear what's being said sometimes and the speaker may need to repeat a few things said, I just listen the sound and take it all in. Then I find it comes out when I speak, people think Im making fun of the accent, but of course Im not. My favourites are French, Spanish, Irish and Scottish. I love the New Zealand accent, but unlike the other accents I really do think it is funny, but that's why I love it.#111: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
Don't worry, Deana, I won't go on with that Krusty old bit. But i appreciate your sharpness (I was going to say acuity, but suddenly I forget how to spell it.)#112: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Sep 7, 2007
I like this string, it's like a big party where there are several conversations going on that have a life of their own and people are moving from group to group and back again. Too cool.
Yes, there are some beautiful accents, and then there's Pittsburgh! :-)#113: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 7, 2007
JC, I *sorta* remember Regent pop, but it's not something I would have thought of until you prompted me.
Back to Kennywood, we went several years ago. We went on the Thunderbolt -- my teenage son's first time -- and it got stuck on the way up the first hill! The anticipation as we waited for it to get moving again really added to the thrill of that coaster ride!
Okay, I would have been crawling down the sides of the framework and not giong on the ride. I wonder if the roller coaster is less thrilling for those Pburghers who are used to the hills just from every day driving than it is for us flatlanders?#114: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 8, 2007
Honestly, I would not remember most of it if not for trips back every few years, though soon I'm afraid there won't be anyone left to visit.
Oh, and lemmon blendd was a fave.
I spent a semester in England, near Liverpool, and although I managed not to pick up the accent, I found myself picking up the cadence (is that the right word?) of their speaking. It's very sing-songy and sounds like you're always asking questions: I went to the pub today? And had a beer?#115: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 8, 2007
But I'm a sucker for accents too! I like it when people add their little touches on the boards so we can hear their voices, like Marz' good on ya! And, yes, I can "hear" Sylvain's accent as well!
I too love an accent. I used to work in customer service & just loved when someone would call with an accent.#116: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
When ever I get excited/upset I start speaking like with southern accent, even tho I've never been down south. It's strange.
When I'm tired, the southern accent in me (grew up a good chunk of time in Texas, went to college in Tennessee) comes out terribly! At times, its been so thick that I hear myself and immediately tuck myself in bed.#117: nancy king (naneki) on Sep 8, 2007
Atleast you have an excuse, having been in the south! My only relation to the south is my past ancestors came from the Missouri/Kentucky area.#118: Bionerd (nieboo) on Oct 13, 2007
I am 26 and my birthday is June 11th. So another Gemini. :) And I have a Jersey accent. So I add w's to words that don't need them. Like twalk and mwall for talk and mall.#119: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 13, 2007
Jersey folks tend to move your r's around too. My buddy Tommy Smack from Newark used to have great idears about how to drive his cah. Feel free to add any extra letters you feel like to your comments.#120: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 13, 2007
Oh fun do that. Everybody try to write the way they talk. :)#121: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 13, 2007
Donc je vais commencer à écrire mes commentaire en français#122: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 13, 2007
(So I will start to comment in french)
...:)
Då svarar jag på Svenska. Fast jag tänkte att vi skulle skriva så som vi skulle prata med varandra.#123: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 13, 2007
(Then I will answer in Swedish. But I was thinking that we would write the way we would talk to each other.)
The Swedish, you could call me a meatball and then tell me you were complementing my shoes and I wouldn't know the difference. The French, not so much.#124: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 13, 2007
Ah, ma plus petite mouche noir, vous avez un visage d'un vache, et le bouche d'une poisson.
Sylvain, don't be too harsh on spelling and grammer. Pronuncitation was my strong suit in French class.
M2, I'll take a stab: tankte=think, skriva=write (looks like script, scrivener, etc) prata = talk (prate) jag=to be (frequency, placement w/other words) skulle=would (placemnt)? close? I wish I could make those cooll little cirles and accent marks, tho' i've got little practical use for them.
Do you really want to write the way we talk? When we talk we usually fill the air with Ums, hey!'s , etc. Many people fault this in a person's speech, but it is important in that it is a signal, and therefore a valid piece of communication, that says "hey guys, wake up. I've got something I want you to hear and I dont' want to have to repeat it." In writing you've already got our attention int he fact that our eyes are on the words (retention and closeness of reading is another matter, but listening vs. hearing is the same issue).
Welcome to the column of Babel!
Wow JC you got all the Swedish words right but one. Jag = I#125: Bionerd (nieboo) on Oct 13, 2007
I give up write however you want. I just thought that it was fun "hearing" Sylvains accent and it was nice with all the pennsylvania talk too. Ummmm what was I gonna say?..... ..... Oh yeah :P THHHIIIIIPPPPPTTT
Yeah, I absolutely don't say "idear" I can't stand that. That's more of a Long Island accent/NYC.#126: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Sep 21, 2007
Hi everyone! I am 49 by birthday age - am a Leo but always felt like a Cancer. Since I was adopted back in the 50's, my birth records are sealed so maybe I am really a Cancer. I started doing these puzzles about 5 years ago in crossword magazines but there weren't very many. I think this is such a wonderful site -- thank you Jan for it -- and I agree that it is wonderful that everyone is from all over!!#127: Bionerd (nieboo) on Oct 13, 2007
Hehe pgymy goats are awesome!#128: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 21, 2007
welcome sarah!
Hi Sarah! It's so nice to know a little more about you. Try the chat room here sometime. It's a fun way to visit with other puzzle fanatics. I go by Gypso on this site. Is it okay to call you Sarah? Welcome and hope to talk to you soon.#129: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
What rural part of Missouri? I'm in Kansas City, KS now, but I grew up in the Ozarks and have family scattered all over the many small towns of MO.#130: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007
OK, that's weird. I lived for awhile in the Ozarks also.#131: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 21, 2007
Doppleganger!!!
That's weird I used to have a friend who called himself Doppleganger! lol sad but true ;)#132: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 21, 2007
My brothers and I took my dad fishing for his 60th birthday some years ago to a place near Dora, which is in the center of Missoura, about 10 mi north of Ark. Incredibly beautiful and unspoiled. Might even be what they mean by "God's country"#133: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
Ok Theresa.... I'm getting a little weirded out here. :D#134: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 21, 2007
Graduated from high school in Republic. Worked as a teen at SDC. Do I know you? :D
The suspense is killing me! Come on Twillis, do you know Deanna?#135: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007
I used to know a Deena.#136: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007
Ever hear of a town called Humansville?
Drive through it every time I go to my Dad's, who lives in Aldrich. :)#137: Merili (merilinnuke) on Sep 28, 2007
Hey everybody! I'm 23 and a Virgo (last day of August). In pbn-years I'm about 6 or 7, don't know exactly.#138: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Sep 28, 2007
Hi. I'm 42 y o right now. Aquarius. Hmm... in pbn-years.. about 3 years i think. Female. Denmark :-)#139: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 28, 2007
Hi Merili! What name do you like to go by? Happy Belated Birthday 3 and half(?) weeks ago! I really enjoyed your puzzle!#140: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Sep 28, 2007
Hi Gitte! What name do you like to go by? Are you a January or February Aquarius? I'm loving doing your older puzzles as well as the new ones. Thank you for all your postings!
I go by Gypso. I'm 51 and live in Pacifica, California. I google mapped Estonia after Merili's puzzle. Looks like a pretty part of the world. You two are kind of neighbors. Compared to me that is. Where in your respective countries do you live? I'd love to give you a "google map" visit! Thanks for introducing yourselves! ^v^
Hi Gypso. Gitte is ok. I’m born February 18. The last day in Aquarius.#141: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 28, 2007
I live on an island called Funen (Fyn ). :-))
Ah! I'm February 21st. We are birthday month twins! That's lovely! I'm going to Google map your island. I'll be sure to wave at you! ;-)#142: Merili (merilinnuke) on Sep 29, 2007
Hey Gypso! You can call me Merka, all my friends do. Thanks for the belated congrads (4 weeks). I live in a small place (bigger than a village but smaller than a town, app. 1200 people) 45 km, about 30miles south from Rakvere.#143: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 29, 2007
By the way, Gitte, my stepmother's birthday is also on Feb 18 :)
Ah ha! Another family connection . So that would make Lone your Aunt? And oh my goodness! There's a reason why you two are neighbors. How funny that I didn't put that together! lol#144: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 29, 2007
Merka thank you so much for telling me your name!
Tomorrow I'm going to google map the 2 of you. It's so nice to meet you. ^v^
Oops gypso.. i think she was talking to Gitte.. not saying that Gitte is her stepmother.#145: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 29, 2007
Of course your right M2. The sentence really didn't make sense the way I heard it. lol#146: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Sep 29, 2007
That really would have been too coincidental!
I hope that both of you wave however!
Thanks Mama! :D
Funny with all the February-birthsdays… My mom’s was on February 19. My grandpa’s (fathers father) was on Feb 17. My son is born feb. 1. (He’s 11 now.) My sister-inlaw’s birthsday is feb.7.#147: Merili (merilinnuke) on Sep 29, 2007
Gypso.. I waved back at you ;o)
Funny, of all my relatives and friends (besides my stepmom), I only have one nephew, whose birthday is in February, on Valentine's day.#148: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 29, 2007
Gypso, I'm waving too :)
Merka, I found you! Do you live clser to the lake between Estonia and Russia or the Gulf of Finland? It's very pretty in your country. Looks like plenty of agricultural plots. I read that you all grow potatoes and fruit. What kind of fruit? I'm geographically challenged, can you tell me what season you're currently in? Thanks for the visit! I waved right back. ^V^#149: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 29, 2007
Oh Gitte! Just beautiful! Your neighborhoods looked well planned with large yards and surrounded by farm land and what looks like many, many parks. So lovely. I just read about the loss of your lobster colonies. What progress been made to restore them? Of course I am reading from an old atlas (8 yo) could be it's no longer a problem. What type of things do you grow? You must love living where you do! Thanks for waving too. It was fun to visit! ^V^#150: Merili (merilinnuke) on Sep 30, 2007
Lake Peipsi is about 50 km from my home and the Gulf of Finland is about 60 km, so pretty much the same distance. If it helps - the railroad goes right through the middle of my hometown.#151: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 30, 2007
Speaking of seasons, our summer just ended and fall began. It's harvest time for potatoes (almost ending already), and soon we'll be picking fruits like apples, pears, plums and cherries. We also grow a lot of grain. When you drive around in Estonia, you can see many fields of rye, wheat, barley, oat and rape. And potatoe fields, of course :)
Thank you Merka. I should be able to see rail tracks. It's funny but I kind of thought you might be halfway between the two! Mmmm cherries! Are your cherries the sour kind or the sweet kind?#152: elin tjernström (idiotjewel) on Sep 30, 2007
Im 21. Born January 24 1986. Makes me an Aquarius.#153: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 30, 2007
Hurray! We found a January birthday for Jan! Now he won't have to attend the meetings all by himself. ;-)#154: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 30, 2007
Oops! I meant January birthday buddy!#155: Arduinna (arduinna) on Oct 1, 2007
My husband's January 30th, but he just looks at me funny for playing puzzles all weekend. So, he's not "one of us!" ;)#156: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007
Isn't it sad when we marry outside our "species"? ;-)#157: Arduinna (arduinna) on Oct 1, 2007
Ah well. He has other qualities I suppose. He cleaned the bathroom today.#158: Merili (merilinnuke) on Oct 1, 2007
Our cherries tend to sourness, Gypso.#159: Merili (merilinnuke) on Oct 1, 2007
Arduinna, my ex was born on Jan 31st and looked at me the same way :D
...but he never cleaned the bathroom...#160: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007
So what I've learned today from both Boar Goddess and Merka's experience is this: if you find a guy who cleans the bathroom, he's a keeper! Well done, BOTH of you. ^0^#161: Merili (merilinnuke) on Oct 1, 2007
I love sour cherries. I love all cherries! *+*
at least now I know what to look for in a man, lol#162: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Oct 1, 2007
Hi Gypso. I don’t know anything about the lobsters… lol… I try to avoid problems around the world, because I really feel that I have enough problems already.#163: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007
I’m born with PE (Pectus Excavatum, funnelchest) and have been tired all my life. No one, not even I knew that the PE had anything to do with this fatigue (It’s so severe that I haven’t been able to work for almost 2 years now, and very little before that…and I have even been tested for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ) February this year I found out, and now I look forward to have it corrected.
Hmm.. Sorry… I didn’t mean to start a topic about diseases or disorders, but this is the reason that I puzzle a lot. I have to rest a lot during the day. And… lol.. I too have brain fog once in a while (read somewhere in here that I’m not alone.)
Our house is surrounded by fields, but I don’t grow anything myself. Someone wanted to get rid of his greenhouse, so me and my husband have started to disassemble it ,and I’m looking forward to grow some tomatoes and cucumbers next summer ;-)
I'm so sorry to here about the PE Gitte. It's no wonder that you're fatigued. I would imagine that deep breathing would be difficult. Fatigue can certainly contribute to brain fog!#164: Jennifer Davis (LightVader) on Oct 1, 2007
When will you be able to have this condition corrected? My sympathies to you and admiration for carrying on with your life so well. Chronic diseases are so debilitating!
I really hope that when you are able you do get to grow some vegis. There's nothing quite like eating fresh from the garden.
I'm a december baby.#165: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007

Lots in December! I'm sorry I forgot you were in December Sylvain. What day again?#169: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Oct 2, 2007

#54 - A belated thanks. I am indeed from England and I can indeed drink :D
#56 - The nick would be Sailor Moon + a pokemon. The sort of thing which seemed like a great idea 6 years (6? wow) ago and I kept because it's unique and I got used to it.
#114 - I'm in Liverpool at the moment, at uni. Haven't picked up the accent, but then most of the people I actually converse with on a regular basis are from all over the country. Or on the Internet, but the net doesn't really have an accent, unless l33t counts >.>
Must remember to check the forums here more often, heh
Hi all, I'm 25 and in my second of 3 years getting a master's degree in counseling. My birthday was on Labor Day (yes, I'm in the U.S.), so it was nice to have off school for it!#180: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Nov 30, 2007

That was a good reminder to back up all my stuff, by the way. I think it's been a few months.
I knew a woman who after having spent a full career in public school site administration decided to get a PhD. In what exactly I don't remember but it was related to her existing career. 2 weeks from presentation her laptop ate half her dissertation.#189: Debra Greene (dlegreen) on Feb 1, 2008
Please do back your work up Arduinna. In as many ways as you can, all separate from each other! My friend was able to reconstruct most of her work but the experience aged her by about 5 years just in that last 2 weeks. ^>^
I'm just now getting around to reading these forums. I turned 50 in October - not sure if I get to be President of the October BD Club or just VP. I also have a husband much older than myself - interesting trend on this site it seems. Also lots of Michiganders and apparently Kansans, although great diversity which is part of what makes it so interesting. Been doing pbn's for several years - starting with Games magazine. Used to go to some other website that went offline a while back and found this one -wish I had found it a looonngg time ago!#190: Gypso (Gypso) on Feb 1, 2008
Hi Debra! Glad that you found this site too! Love your puzzles. Welcome to the site and both the October and 50 club. Be sure a give Naneki a picture of yourself so that she can make a puzzle of you. :)#191: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Feb 1, 2008

im 26 human years and only about 2-3 puzzle years, but ill grown old with them i bet#193: Gypso (Gypso) on Jun 9, 2008
That's the spirit Rea! Life without Webpbn would be pretty boring. :)#194: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jun 11, 2008
LOVE webpbn. Buy the way is there a way to chech coments on puzzle you have commented on without writing down the numbers and checking each indiviualy?#195: Gypso (Gypso) on Jun 11, 2008
Rea, if you have solved the puzzle and saved, new comments for solved puzzles will appear when you click on "Forum". If you are commenting on a puzzle that you haven't solved, the only way I know of to check for new comments is how you described it.#196: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jun 11, 2008
Hope that helps. :)
I should put in an option that lets you check for new comments on topics/puzzles that you have commented on. It's been requested before and it wouldn't be terribly hard to do.#197: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jun 12, 2008
I hope you do Jan. It would make it easier. It is preatty though when you have done more than 20 puzzle. I have done around 200 but I have only commented on 10-15 sow I have to check all 200 like it is now if I don't write down the numbers.#198: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 12, 2008
If you have completely solved the puzzle, though, Rea, the threads will show up for you when you click "forum" if there are any new comments.#199: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jun 12, 2008
If I comment on a puzzle I haven't solved, I usually just click on "rate this puzzle" and mark it as completed. I've only done that a few times when there was a long, interesting conversation going on about a puzzle, but it didn't look like something I wanted to solve!
Yes but i didn't use to check the coments on every puzzle som i had a lot in my list. Just finish opening and closing all of them sow it is usefull now.#200: Gypso (Gypso) on Jun 12, 2008
What time is it where you are Arduinna?
I am going to bed now its 10 pm here in Denmark, see you all later
Goodnight Rea, sweet pixel dreams.#201: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 12, 2008
Arduinna lives in a different time zone from me, but I figured once that Gitte (who is also from Denmark) is 9 hours ahead of me during our Pacific Standard Time. So my best guess is that your 10 pm is my 1 pm and Arduinna's 3 pm??? But all in the same day!
Am I even close anyone?
Sounds right! I'm two hours ahead of you Gypso, so 3 would have been right. (It's 5 now.) And England is 6 hours ahead of me.#202: Gypso (Gypso) on Jun 12, 2008
Good night, Rea! I'm still at work! ;)
What are you doing still at work Arduinna??#203: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jun 12, 2008
sounds right gypso#204: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 13, 2008
For the summer, mornings are Latin class, noon is yoga, and afternoons (even evenings two nights a week) are working as an enrollment advisor at the junior college. Basically, I'm working 30 hours a week and going to school full time this summer. I don't have an off button!#205: Gypso (Gypso) on Jun 15, 2008
All that AND Scotland?? Are ya nuts Arduinna?#206: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 16, 2008
Scotland is in September. I'll have a whole new crazy schedule by then. And, yes, I am.#207: Kuuipo (monkeylover) on Jun 20, 2008
answer to the topic, I am in my in my late 30's#208: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Jul 9, 2008
Hi again Rea... Now I just read that you ARE from Denmark :o)... And wellcome to the forum by the way. I live on Funen (Fyn)#209: Rea Aksglæde Karlsen (Rea) on Jul 17, 2008
hi Gitte me too I live in Odense#210: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 22, 2008
Hi - My PBN age is about 1 week - never really tried them on paper that I can remember, maybe just a few times. My birthday is near the end of January and on my next I'll be 50.#211: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Nov 22, 2008
And because I know Gypso will ask, I like being called Byrdie. <smile>
The off topic conversation may now resume. lol
lol..welcome to the OLDER group (there are so few of us)#212: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 22, 2008
Thanks. Don't really feel older, until I try to get up on one of our colder winter mornings. <smile>#213: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 24, 2008
I was just reading the Birthday Forum so here's a logic puzzle (not a difficult one at all) for Gypso. Not that it matters but I'm 2 days older than Jan. <smile> That's cool enough because I'm only 7 minutes older than my next closest sibling.#214: Jan Wolter (jan) on Nov 25, 2008
Martin and I seem to have some points of synchronization. Born a few days apart, speak some German, spent a lot of time on pre-internet bulletin board systems, and made a lot of our current friends there. Now we do pbn puzzles and talk a lot in the forums.#215: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 25, 2008
Like minds ... ? Though I'm in no way a computer guru. Had a chance to wander down that path, "breaking into" (I had a key) the college computer lab at night to teach myself to program in basic on one of the earliest Apples. I'm just computer literate enough to be dangerous.#216: Amanda Egeskov Hald (MInimanta) on Feb 11, 2009
I am 18 years (but on Feb 28 i'll turn 19) and i'm a female, and you can call me Mini or Manta or something like that. And I have sovled these puzzle for 2 years I think, but I have solved sudoku for about 5 years.#217: Kuuipo (monkeylover) on Feb 14, 2009

LMAO.. somewhere between Pampers and Depends.. love that answer. Of all the 223 that I read, Linda saved the best for last. lol#225: Alicia Snyder (prinny) on Jun 21, 2010
As for me.. a lady never tells but an Alicia never lies(Alicia, in the greek form, means Truth)...I am in my early 30s. My bday is Aug. 23rd. I'm not into astrology but leo/virgo cusp describes me well.
I've been solving these puzzles for years as I, too found them in the back of the Penny Press magazines. And I was super stoked to find them online long thereafter. Why it took so long, I'll never know. Is what it is.
Oh! And Gypso... my oldest son is a Feb. 4th bday too.. Just thought I'd share :)#226: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 19, 2011
Yay, I'm in the February club! 02/25/75, so 4 years and a day after Marz. I'm a Pisces Rabbit, and my son Chris (10/25/01) is a Scorpion Snake. I've done these puzzles on and off over the years (Dell and Penny Press), but I caught the bug again about a year ago, and found this site when I started looking for a place to print out puzzles to complete at work. I'm a logic puzzle junkie. Chris is hooked on creating puzzles! He doesn't really have the patience to solve them, but he picked up some of Mom's art aptitude and seems to have a natural flair for pbn's.#227: annalivia (annalivia) on Mar 12, 2011
hmmm... skimming, so i may be wrong, but... I may be the senior webpbner. I celebrated (oh, yeah! did I ever! my 69th in January. I'm on the cusp.... the next day is aquarius.#228: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Mar 12, 2011
Annalivia, 69 is the new 30!#229: NiGHTS (NiGHTS) on Jun 30, 2011
I'm 30. I was introducted to paint-by-numbers 4 or 5 days ago.#230: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 30, 2011
Wow - that is so unusual to show so much talent at creating puzzles when you are so new to this. You are very gifted.#231: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Jun 30, 2011
ditto Teresa. really enjoying your creative puzzles.#232: Edith Clark (eclark) on Jul 16, 2011
I got tired before I read all of this. But I may be the oldest. I'm 60! I have been doing puzzles at this site for a couple of years, I think. At my age, who remembers! I've never tried making one but may some day. I just recently started reading the comments after doing a puzzle and am really enjoying that. I think all the puzzle makers are great and I love this site. My son (a computer programmer) introduced me to PBN. I tried a different site first. It didn't have color. Then I found this one and have stuck with it.#233: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 17, 2011
Hi, Edith. I'm older. And I don't think I am the only one. :-)#234: Edith Clark (eclark) on Jul 18, 2011
Cool. I see comments by you all the time. Funny how before I checked out the comments I figured everyone was a teenager or close. Now most everyone who has told is definitely not a teenager. :)#235: Edith Clark (eclark) on Jul 18, 2011

Add a third member to the June/Gemini club...1976 makes me...erg...never can remember my age...35! I started doing these puzzles when they came out in Games Magazine but didn't keep up with it. A couple of years ago I was looking for a puzzle book at the store to take traveling and thought "i wish there was a book just full of those picture logic puzzles" and when i looked, there were some! realizing other people liked them too (i'm slow) i went online to see what sites there were and this is the first one i happened upon and haven't looked for any others.#237: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz71) on Oct 20, 2011
That's pretty much my story too David, but there was not much choice here with the books, there was one that was fantastic, but it only came out once every 3 months, so I was very happy when I found this site.#238: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 20, 2011
The store i was in only had one book and i bought it. i never looked for any others because i found this site when i was about 75% done with that book.#239: Nancy (nbarsi) on Nov 13, 2011
Just turned 66 and have been into logic problems since grade school but just discovered pbn in the last three years. What a wonderful find. This site rules! Scorpio by birth and nature.#240: Skippy Miller (gmillvmill) on Jun 7, 2012
I'm 21 and have been doing these puzzles on this site since I was 18 or 19 (lost track). My birthday is March 23rd.#241: Megan Graft (nutmeg89) on Jul 29, 2012
I'm 16 and I've been solving these for about 2-3 months. I got inspired by the puzzles in Games Magazine#242: noodles (lhirst) on Oct 13, 2013
Wow I've been reading this topic for way too long!! My thread age is, what, maybe 2 hours? My PBN age: I'm not really sure... a few years in mags, but only while traveling and only a very few PBNs per mag (I've been on this site a few weeks). My time on earth is *almost* 44 years (3 days to go). Born 10/16/69. So I was born in the very best month and am a Libra and Rooster.#243: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 8, 2018
I'm 27 at the time I am posting. I've been using this site since 2014, but I didn't visit it very much, and then my whole account was deleted in the Big Loss. (We need an official name for it.) I came back about a year ago and have been visiting it every day ever since. But I never started doing pbn puzzles on paper, actually, I didn't even know they came in print form. I first started doing them on computer games that I downloaded from Big Fish Games. They had some variety, but not like the limitless possibilities on this site. Also, they never got bigger than 25x25. The large sizes here, therefore, were quite a daunting shock. Now I love them. I haven't played those computer games in a year now, and probably never will. But I would say overall, I have been solving pbn puzzles for... I estimate 5 or 6 years, give or take.
