looks like I have competition :)
#7: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Nov 23, 2008
Only if Teresa keeps it up. One great puzzle doesn't demonstrate excellence, merely one excellent puzzle. Persistence and continued great puzzles will earn her the "excellence" description that you have clearly earned over the years, Nancy.
#8: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Nov 23, 2008
thank you Adam, but I have hope for Teresa :)

besides that all of her puzzle are my favorite "B&W"
#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Nov 23, 2008
So do I (have hope for her) but I am waiting for her to prove it over the course of many puzzles. That's all I was saying. I hope she does.
#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Nov 24, 2008
Thank you for this honor. So very exciting!

I don't think I could ever top Naneki's art work. I have solved several of her B&W puzzles, and they are amazing. She is more versatile with size and color. I will only be creating B&Ws of small size, due to my own vision impairment. But I will definitely try more like this one.

please go check topic #122 for your 3q interview

Super picture. But I couldn't "see" it until I walked about 10 steps away from the screen.
#13: Teresa K (fasstar) on Apr 28, 2009
Thanks - that was the effect I was going for.

Oh, Martin, I'm glad you didn't have to go back too far to see it! :-)

What a terrific puzzle. It baffles me that it is rated at 2.75. People gave this less than three stars? Weird. I gave it five.
#18: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 13, 2010
Thanks, Jan. I did this one just two days after I found your site and discovered the joy of creating these things.

What's weird is that I could swear the rating for this puzzle was much higher at a previous point in time. If some people gave it a high rating, then doesn't that mean that some people must have given it a 1 for it to average out to just 2.75? How many, I wonder?

I have also seen the rating for some of my other puzzles change rather drastically over a short period of time (hours). I would love to find out how many people rated my best 5 puzzles with a 1 or 2.
#19: Jen (LightVader) on Jan 15, 2010
Wasn't there a topic about something like that happening?
#20: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jan 15, 2010
I think that for some people the image just never quite clicked. Likely they don't read the comments, which would encourage them to look harder. There doesn't appear to be any ballot box stuffing going on here.
#21: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 15, 2010
Okay. Sometimes it's hard to predict what people will see while they are solving. Just as in life, people's perspectives and opinions vary widely. Except when it comes to Disney characters. Then it seems almost everyone recognizes them, and everyone loves them. :-)
#22: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jan 15, 2010
Hey now, Teresa, come on. It's not my fault!
#23: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 15, 2010
Adam, you have been very nice. I wasn't pointing any fingers at you. After all, there are one or two puzzlers who seem to be a bit antagonistic towards me. Ya never know.
#24: Jota (jota) on Jan 16, 2010
I've loved this puzzle from day one! I gave it a 5 even though I am a more experienced puzzle solver now than then.
#25: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 16, 2010
Thanks, Jota.

I solved this awhile ago, but I was just reading the forums and found that this particular puzzle was mentioned as being exceptional. Naturally, I had to check it out. I was surprised that I had already solved it some time before because if it was so memorable, how could I forget it? I think I solved it before I ever started reading comments (I didn't care about comments when I first started on this site.) Now that I've come back to this one, my first thought after loading the page was, "What the heck is it?"
I well know now that comments can explain everything and they did not let me down. I see why this puzzle was so well-spoken of and I've gotta say, what a great idea! In your 3Q interview (forum 122, comment #39), you described using photoshop to play with the image so it would not be recognizable until one steps back a bit. That is brilliant. I applaud your creativity, and hope that you read this comment despite the puzzle having been made so long ago. Great picture.
#28: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 20, 2018
Thank you, Aurelian. I remember making that puzzle, but I cannot remember how I did it. I think I stumbled upon the technique it by accident. I could not replicate it now if I wanted to. :-D

Welcome back! We hadn't heard from you on this site for a while so I checked for you in the Users section. It said that you hadn't logged on in a month! I was thinking about you and hoping you were ok. I know life can get crazy sometimes.
#30: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 21, 2018
Yes, I'm okay, I was just super busy. I finally retired, and now maybe I'll have a little more time to play. :-)
#31: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 21, 2018
Glad to hear it! Also, congratulations on retiring.
