I'm so used to the idea that apples come from the grocery store that when I see a tree with apples growing on it, my first thought always is that it must have taken someone a lot of work to tie all those apples to the tree to decorate it. I know they grow on trees, it's just that I so rarely see them there.

Your comment, Valerie, reminds me of the last lines in the movie WALLE.

Captain: This is called farming! You kids are gonna grow all kinds of plants! Vegetable plants, pizza plants.

When I was 12 or so, my uncle took me to a farmers market so I could smell a fresh, non-waxed apple. The difference is staggering!

And also thought that terrible smell you sometimes smell on the road is dead armadillo. "Whoo! Armadillo!" ..."Um, that's a skunk. Armadillos don't smell like that. "..."but have you smelled a dead one??"

So many stories about this girl, not all can be shared here :P Will add that she always wore the same fire engine red bra (apparently her most comfortable one) and didn't wash it because "it's impossible for bras to get dirty under shirts."
