Flail might be a better word for it, but I prefer to call it a chained mace, or chained morning star, since flail to me refers to a large 2 handed peasants flail a somewhat different weapon. The problem with naming these is that unlike the peasants flail which was definitely a real thing, its not clear that they ever actually existed or if they are purely fantasy.

One of the relly great things about this site is being able to let your imagination run free. So given the excellence of these small puzzles I am perfectly comfortable with a chained mace.
