Needs some guessing at the end
#2: Belita (belita) on Jul 4, 2023 [HINT]
No guessing - just smile logic.
#3: Wombat (wombatilim) on Jul 4, 2023 [HINT]
Initial line & color logic solves 93% with only red remaining.

R9: If the red 3 goes to C15, R6 C18-19 are both red, which is invalid.

LL solves the rest.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by wombatilim.

Similar to Wombi, I got to 93% with line and color logic. Then I looked at the 3s in columns 15 and 16. Since row 6 only has red 1's, that means that if one of the 3s reaches up into row 6, then the other needs to go down into row 9. Row 9 has a red 3 there, and it can't have a break in the middle, so the 3 in column 16 can't go up or the 3 in column 15 would go down, causing a break in the 3 in row 9. So the 3 in column 16 goes down into row 9. Then line logic to finish.

I recognized what I'm calling the 'ladder pattern' with the red 2s to finish the solve. Maybe not a logically 100% reliable method, but it gave me the confidence to start filling in squares, and alas, it worked.

Really fantastic image! I love that the volcano, though the subject, isn't just centered up. It is compositionally balanced with the cloud (which has a refreshing naturalness to it). Then the image gets it's dose of actual symmetry in the water and greenspace. It also balances the sense of tranquility of that foreground with the active dynamism of an eruption. Love that the sky was left as white/negative space and the whole thing is wrapped up nicely in a clean 20x20 grid. What's not to love??

Solve-wise, I did something similar but with a 2-way move. After line and color gets you to 93%:

- whether C15R6 or C15R9 is red, C16R9 is red.

LL to finish.
