All the rain at the Masters reminded me ot trying to play in the rain. It began raining when my foresome approached the tee to a short par 3 hole. It wasn't raining very hard so we decided to try to keep playing. After I struck the ball I looked up to see where it went but could not see it. Still looking toward the green I heard a plunk near my feet and looked down and there was my ball lying next to my tee. Apparently my hands and club had gotten a little slippery causing my iron to twist enough so that my ball went straight up and straight down.

I'd worry about lightning...and holding a metal club...on flat land.

I just want to see an inflight golf ball struck by lighting and be obliterated. Thanks good TV, right there.

I don't know if a golf ball has ever been hit by lightning. But MLB pitcher Randy Johnson once hit a bird with a pitch.

Before my retirement, I played in many of the company golf tournaments. They had "shotgun starts," meaning everyone started at the same time, just on a different hole, so we'd all ride the carts (corporate benefits, I guess) to the various tee boxes. One year, the weather was threatening, but they didn't think the lightning was comin;, to ensure that, as we rode out to the tees, I held my one-iron up in the air, because everyone know that "even God can't hit a one-iron!"

It worked.

Ha ha, Gary. I thought I had heard them all. Not so.
