I remember this from a long time ago when I hadn't been taking piano lessons for very long and this was in the piano book I used. I would play and we would sing Bill Grogan's goat at the top of our lungs.
If you're not familiar with it here are the lyrics:
Bill Grogan's goat,
was feeling fine.
Ate three red shirts,
right off the line.

Bill took a stick,
gave him three whacks,
And tied him to,
the railroad tracks.

The whistle blew,
the train grew nigh;
Bill Grogan's goat,
was doomed to die.

He gave three moans,
of mortal pain,
Barfed up those shirts,
and flagged that train.

I remember the song. Really cute puzzle.

Now that's funny. I wish I knew that song when I took piano lessons. I would have practiced more.

We sang that song in Boy Scouts around the campfire. That, and Amsterdam, gleefully shouting "DAM DAM DAM!" at the top of our lungs.

Although, thinking about it, I think it was a different title. Anybody? Bueller?

Yep, I also have this song in my piano book, and learned all the words.

The kids now just listen to music on their devices. When I was grawing up we created our music by singing kid songs at the top of our lungs and loved the silly lyrics like, "She went up to heaven and flip flop she flied." lol

Odd what pops up as memories.

"Found a peanut," anyone?

Looking back all the songs I remember us singing were pretty much repeating the same phrase over, and over, and over.......
