Indeed!

I am stuck at the hospital with a kid, and very happy to find a puzzle small enough to do on my phone! Thanks Jonathan!
#5: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Apr 4, 2023
Val, please tell us your kid is OK
#6: Jota (jota) on Apr 5, 2023
Yes Val!
#7: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Apr 5, 2023
Waiting to hear, also....

I think Corbin is mostly okay? He stopped drinking all liquid about a month ago, when he had a hurt tooth. I managed to get some water into him for a while at home, but that was not sustainable. Now he's on IV fluids, baffling the staff and me about why he won't drink. (He has too much autism to tell us.) Anyway, except for the not-drinking, he seems okay. But today is day nine that we've been here. He and I are both very eager to go home!

Puzzle for you, Valerie. 36653

He wouldn't take warm tea or milk? May be is the cold liquid that he rejects.
Hope he gets better. (HUGS)

Jota - Thanks for the suggestions and the hugs!

He only drinks water -- it's someplace between "super hard" and "impossible" to get a person with autism to try new things.

Thanks Jonathan! I will go check it out!

Sending a special blessing for Corbin...and a special blessing for you, Valerie. You have had to be an exceptional mom for so long. I can't imagine how you do it.

I miss David so much I can hardly bear it...when it hurts so, it helps to think of you...then I can shake myself and try harder.

Val, I hope you can find a solution that is acceptable to Corbin.

Will he eat soups that are mostly liquid?
#14: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Apr 6, 2023
Does Corbin have any interest/inclination to help with making his own soup...or possibly drinks? Has he ever "made" fizzy water?

I just realized, you've probably thought about all these things over the years. Sigh. We all want to help so much, but we're probably covering ground you've already trudged over many times already. We love you, Val.

Thanks! Suggestions and ideas are welcome! The doctors and I are all baffled, and Corbin and I would both like to go home, so we need to get this figured out somehow!

Corbin is fifteen, but functions like a toddler (and occasionally falls over unconscious with a seizure), so cooking soup or fizzy drinks is probably not a good match. Also, he only eats familiar food (because of his autism), so it's very unlikely that he would eat or drink something new.

The refusing to drink anything is new, so actually I *don't* have lots of experience with this.

Big big hugs, JoDeen! I am so very sorry for your loss.

Ice pops?
#17: Car Geis (cgeisler) on Apr 7, 2023
Hello Valerie,
Sending hugs as someone who is Mom and Wife to two very special people on the spectrum, and a more 'typical' son who has baffled doctors numerous times. Praying for you, and those helping to care for him right now, to pick up on any patterns or any cues he is able to communicate. And for rest and strength on the journey.

Thanks Jota and Car. Car, that sounds very familiar!

Someone found him a popsicle today. I offered it to him a few times, but he just yelled NO NO NO NO NO. Eventually it melted.
#19: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Apr 7, 2023
Hmmm...does he like watermelon? Frozen watermelon on sticks is very like a popsicle, only when it melts it's not so messy. Frozen green grapes are the same.

Oh Val This must be so hard
