green name? i'm confused

If you mouse over your User ID, it turns green.

It doesn't do that on my screen...for mine or anybody else's User ID that I see. Quite curious!

Same here. The only things that turn green are the items on the menu on the left side.

Hm. Everybody's username should turn green when you mouse over it, or you can click on it to see the person's profile. That went online a week or two ago. (I announced it on the News page.) If your browser is caching (remembering) old settings, it may take a while for the changes to show up on your screen.

You might be able to speed up getting the new settings if you go to this page -- which will look like geeky code -- and press your browser's Refresh button:

Hmm...went to each of those geeky pages and forced full reload and then force reloaded this page as well. Still no green...but at least I know what to look for in the future :) I did edit my bio, but it's not exactly rich in info lol

-- which is very similar to what you are on. And the code that shows the green on mouseovers is pretty standard. Oh! Except for the way that Jan coded the loading of the file, which I've never seen used anywhere else. I wonder if it's that.

David, can you click on people's usernames and see their profile pop up?

Also, it's likely that you are seeing this page in a frame, so it's remotely possible that you may need to force-reload the frame (as in, right-click somewhere in the frame, then hold down shift and choose Reload Frame -- but you sound likely to already know that!).

Yeah, I tried to test a few things including force reload of frame (both in frame and unframed window). Couldn't get the green to show up. Clicking bios works (except for what I assume are accounts that are no longer in use like "luke piper (luke)" and "Millie (milliebug)." I did check Edge and it works perfectly in that browser on my machine.

Everyone's name turns green for me :)

Norma and Julie: That looks to me like your browser is remembering a previous version of the instructions for the link colors. It should fix itself over time.

David: Hm. How about here in this thread? Do the links now turn green when you roll your mouse over them? Are you reading this in a pop-up window or in a page with the menu on the left?

Nope, no green...in either a pop-up frameless or in the menu-ful version :P

David, that baffles me, because the mouseovers in Test 2 (in #20) are exactly the same as here ("here" being the non-popup version that has the menu on the right), so either they should both work, or neither. Or something else is different between them.

Hm. I changed the name of the file with the instructions, which may help for people whose browser is remembering old code. I don't think that answers what David's browser is doing, though.

Ok, so I think it was just the system caching old information. Glad it's working now!

I thought so too, but aside from forced full reload I was also clearing my cache manually. I really don't know...ghost in the machine?
