That one of the greatest title I saw in a while and you better be sure I won't be the male of that "pretty lady"

great job Marz

wonderful results
#3: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 22, 2008 [HINT]
Fantastic puzzle. Have no idea why it would be labled "requires much guessing." I didn't evn use edge logic.
#4: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Sep 22, 2008
Gorgeous picture! And very, very solvable.

I have had the same thing come up on some of my puzzles, where it says "may require guessing," but is completely solvable. Nice work! For a puzzle having many thin diagonal lines, it solved nicely.

Yes, I made sure it was completely solvable with no guessing, took me hours though. It only takes a couple of solvers to put up one of those ratings and it can stay there until maybe Jan checks it with his solver tool or lots of good solvers do your puzzle and rate it properly. Sort of sucks when you know for sure that it is perfecty solvable with no guessing.
Oh well, what can ya do?

Thanks to all for the lovely comments :)

MANTISES? (regular plural ending)
MANTIS? (like moose stays moose)
MANTI? (like cactus ---> cacti)
MANTES? (like crisis --> crises)

What IS the plural of mantis?

LOL

I think mantids is the most accepted word for the plural of mantis, but I have also seen mantes, mantises and mantii being used, so who really knows?
#10: Arduinna (arduinna) on Sep 26, 2008 [SPOILER]
Dictionary.com and merriam-webster.com both give mantises and mantes. Maybe we should just keep them from congregating and we won't have to worry about it.

Great idea!

No! LOL, these are my most favourite insect, I love them. I use to keep them as pets, well I would keep one female. I loved watching her hunt and then devour her prey. They are fascinating to watch. Once, I introduced a male to my beautiful lady mantis, well now that was an amazing lesson in entomology. The poor fellow didn't even get a chance to do his thing, she just grabbed him, ripped his head off and ate him. I was a bit upset because I wanted her to have babies. But to my astonishment, less than a month later she produced an egg case, apparently the girls can become fertile just by eating Mr Mantis' head!!! The egg case hatched some weeks later and there were about 60 tiny little mantis babies, they looked like little ants with upturned bottoms, and they were pure black, so cute! I released all except one and watched that one grow into a big mantis. I realeased mumma mantis, because at that stage it was winter and there were hardly any insects about to feed her with, she would do better on her own outdoors.
I just think they are amazing, you can see them thinking, they get use to their caretaker, they can get quite tame and you can teach them things, just little things, I just love them! :)

Thanks!

I'm not sure why the guessing flag is still on this one either... It appears to be completely line logic solvable, which should never set that flag.
#16: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 6, 2011
Found to be logically solvable by gator.
#17: Gator (gator) on Sep 6, 2011 [HINT]
Agreed that it is completely solvable with line logic (I fixed the flag). Great puzzle!

Thanks Gator! :)

Fantastic puzzle. I guessed what it was about 1/3 of the way through, but it was fantastic nonetheless. Love it. One of the best!
