I once went steelhead fishing in the fall in Oswego, NY on Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful day, sunny and crisp. Suddenly a terrific wind blew out of nowhere and it snowed little styrofoam balls that thoroughly covered everything in no time at all. Visibility was instantly zero. It was quite frightening. I later learned it's called a "lake-effect" storm, and they can be very dangerous.
