Oh no! That is sad news indeed.

(I could only solve the puzzle by using a combination of guessing and symmetry.)

well row 4 has only 1s in it, so you know both 3s in C's 10 and 11 can't extend that far, so the 2s in Rs 1 and 2 have to be somewhere in those 3s columns, which whites out enough to start placing the 2s in C's 8 and 13 and it solves from there

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by blurglecruncheon.

The end of an ERa. (For those who might not know, ER stands for Elizabeth Regina - latin fir Queen Elizabeth.)

She became queen when I was 5 months old - I don't remember a time when she wasn't queen (until today, of course).

On the whole, an extremely successful monarch.

I admired her enormously. Even though I knew she was elderly and frail, I really thought she would live at least as many years as her mother did. I do think losing her husband took a lot out of her quickly. I wonder if it wasn't a heart condition that took her. Anyway, she was a remarkable woman...and the world is poorer for her passing.

Thanks Emimonster! With your hint I was able to solve it with logic instead of guessing/symmetry.

She was an amazing woman. I know shows like 'The Crown' are supposed to tear people like her down, but watching it only made me admire her more. She had to thread some impossible needles during her reign, and she did it with class and dignity.
