About 3 weeks ago, I drove to Birmingham (from New Orleans). While I was there, I developed a sore throat and a stuffy head. Then my New Orleans roommate texted me, saying he had tested positive for COVID. I took a test, and sure enough, I was positive as well. Work said to quarantine for a week, so I decided to quarantine in B'ham. I drove home on Friday (the positive test was on Monday), and the following Monday I went to a clinic to get another test, so I could get an official "return to work" letter. Well, I was still testing positive, so they told me to quarantine for *another* week! Then I drove back to Birmingham the following weekend, and back to NO on Sunday. The upshot is that I got a 2 week vacation, after what amounted to a 3-day head cold. When I finally logged back onto WebPBN, there were a LOT of new puzzles waiting for me!

This is the condensed version; there were other trials and tribulations, such as a dead car (turns out the battery was 7 years old) and did I mention I've separated from my husband after 23 years, and I'm moving to Birmingham next month? Yeah, it's been an eventful spring/summer. ^_^

Oh, that's supposed to be a red thermometer, even though I never even had a fever.
#4: Jota (jota) on Jul 1, 2022 [SPOILER]
Hope you feel better, I too got infected and I'm dealing with it.
#5: Joanne Firla (JoFirla) on Jul 1, 2022 [SPOILER]
Sorry to hear of your separation. So sad after all those years. Good luck with the move. May it be stress free.
#6: Judy LeTourneau (Izzy) on Jul 1, 2022 [SPOILER]
Glad to hear your Covid was "mild". Regarding the separation: they're never easy, whatever the time frame. But, sometimes it's the best (and maybe the only) solution for both of you. Hope things go smoothly, and you may wind up better friends than spouses. (But of course that depends on a lot.) Hugs and luck to you!
#7: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jul 1, 2022 [SPOILER]
Oh my goodness, Kristen! Much sympathy!!
#8: Jill Tallmer (Yidl) on Jul 2, 2022
Kristen, this is the most upbeat Covid story I've heard yet, thank you. At least you didn’t have a dead cat. That’s what I thought you had written. Good luck moving on, and keep your sense of humor. It’s always a treat to do your puzzles.

Thanks, Jill! The future looks bright! I'm immensely happy to be out of an emotionally abusive marriage, and my main regret is that my (20-year-old) son hates me, right now. I'm hopeful that time and experience will teach him that staying in an unhappy, abusive relationship is tremendously unhealthy.

When it rains.........
I'm glad you removed yourself from an abusive relationship and I sincerely hope you heal in every way. Your son is old enough to realize what is best for everyone. Wishing you a happy future.

Thanks, Norma!
#12: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Jul 2, 2022 [SPOILER]
Wow...eventful time for you. I wish you healthy healing in every way.
#13: Koreen (mom24plus) on Jul 3, 2022
What JoDeen said, Kristen!
#14: Vicki Woods (vickicwoods) on Jul 4, 2022
My sister and her husband separated at 23 years also, but by their 25th, her husband woke up and grew up and came back. But when I read "abusive", I think you totally made the right move. Prayers and hugs.

Thanks, Vicki. Reconciliation is NOT in the cards, though I wish he would answer my texts. I have a few loose ends to tie up before I leave the state next month.
