cute!

but the solvability is not "line logic only" like it claims to be. it is moderate lookahead

Interesting. The site marked the solvability as Line Logic, but when I try using the helper on the puzzle, it only marks a few rows. But sometimes the site can detect types of line logic that the helper misses, so maybe it's that? Anyway, this is odd.

Hm. Looking at the puzzle some more, after line logic I see that columns 15 and 19-26 each have a vertical group of 2-3 pixels, then a single space, and then another group of 2-3 pixels. If the space in between was black, then that would make at least 5 pixels in a column filled in, and the clues don't show any blocks of 5 or more pixels that could be in that location. So the space has to be a dot. Then some of those columns have only 3's, or other similar configurations of clues, so the part above and below the dot gets filled in to 3 pixels and then a dot.

That got me only a little farther, but I'm going back in to keep looking. And this type of logic is considered line logic. So, maybe?

Hey cool, that worked! I did more of what I was describing in #4, and then also some logic like in rows 35-36 "the pixels here can only be a row of at least three or four, so the pixel near a dot can be extended to a line of three or four," and then the helper was able to solve the whole puzzle. So I can't say I solved it on my own power entirely, but I do agree that it can be solved with line logic.

Very interesting, Valerie! I saw the solver identified it as line logic only but I definitely used some look ahead while testing it
#7: Gator (gator) on Apr 25, 2022 [HINT]
Yes, definitely line logic only. Great puzzle!

I used "thick edge logic" to get going, after LL ran out. I don't know whether this is a legitimate use of logic, but it's always worked for me.

Example: in Rows 39 and 40, there's an 18 and a 16, then two 15s. Since there are no 1s, then that means those clues are stacked on top of each other, and the 3 9 3 4 of R38 must protrude from those long pieces. With edge logic, I'd look for a string of 1s to build off of, but in this case there are a couple of strings of 2s. So you blacken in R39-40 of C5-10 and C27-32, and proceed with LL from there.

The hint button (L key) will do most of the line logic in this puzzle. Here are the places where it will have trouble.

R24C15 has to be a dot as the column clues do not allow for a 5 or greater. R24C18 also has to be a dot as the 6 clue is already further down the puzzle in that column. This makes both R24C16-17 dots by normal line logic.

The hit button will get a lot more of the puzzle from this point.

Looking at R35C18, it has to extend to the right by 2 cells such that R35C18-20 will be black as it has to be part of a 4 clue or 3 clue.

The rest of the puzzle can be solved with the hint button.

Didn't know if this one was going to be LL solvable or not but at some point I had found enough fun LL that I really hoped that it would...and it DID! Gator beat me to an explanation. If you used advanced logic, I highly recommend solving it again sticking to line logic only, because it's pretty interesting logic :)

@David - have you solved my LLS puzzles? They all have "interesting logic" if you haven't.

I'm pretty sure I went through and solved all of yours gator...and I have to agree!
