Sorry, double post.
#5: Thomas Genuine (Genuine) on Oct 7, 2021
None of you is my fayourite puzzle maker but I must say Aldege's puzzles are much more better than yours :)
#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 8, 2021
I miss Aldege and his creativity. I think I will just pause here and enjoy being even with him for awhile. It is not a race or a competition. It is just a chance for me to express my creative side.

Mine may not be the most artistic puzzles here, but I make the kind of puzzles I like to solve. Not too big with an interesting aspect to them. Some are funny, some thoughtful, often a pun or word play that probably plays best to an American audience.

Thomas, that is a bit hurtful. You know Thomas, if you don't like solving my puzzles, there is a simple solution...

In any case, the rule I always try to live by is that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing.

By the way, I'm not fishing for compliments nor trying to start a flame war. I just thought it was interesting that AC and I have the same number of "puzzles created". I hope I have brought a little joy into your lives and perhaps given you something to think about over the years.

Also, is that correct that it has been over a year since Tom last logged in? I knew I hadn't seen puzzles or comments for quite some time but hadn't realized how long it has been.
#8: Lenore Wilkison (fidelio) on Oct 8, 2021
Please don't feel bad. Enjoying and appreciating your puzzles.
#9: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 8, 2021
That is so nice of you to say. Thank you.
#10: besmirched tea (Besmirched Tea) on Oct 8, 2021
Brian has been one of my favorite creators since the "inappropriate attire" series.
#11: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Oct 8, 2021
I love your puzzles, Brian. They are always interesting!
#12: Jota (jota) on Oct 8, 2021
You are always thought provoking and make me smile Brain.
#13: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 8, 2021
Thank you all. It is my pleasure to make puzzles.
#14: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Oct 8, 2021
About comment 6, actually, Brian I must validate you. It's evident that you chose your words carefully so as to convey hurt without wishing it on the one who hurt you. In a very mature way, you used tact to explain your side, and then move right on to a peaceful and positive way to share your thoughts. I always admire tact in a message because sometimes it takes a lot of strength to use it.
#15: Thomas Genuine (Genuine) on Oct 9, 2021
Brian, you misunderstood me. I can't live without solving logic puzzles... it's much more earlier passion than this site :)
I only said, not you (or Aldege) are my favourite maker (It's Kurt Kowalczyk or Linda Martin on this site)
This is a very special kind of puzzles. Not too easy making really good ones. Lived a man is Slovakia, who made very well in the paper age, but he is dead twenty years ago :(
#16: Steve (StevieB) on Oct 9, 2021
Love your puzzles Brian!
#17: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Oct 9, 2021 [HINT]
Very nice font.
#18: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Oct 10, 2021
Congrats on tying for first!
Brian, I like your puzzles a lot!
#19: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 10, 2021
Brian, you're also the master at creating fun little series that other creators want to glom onto. :)
#20: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 10, 2021
I fear the worst for Tom, given his age. Aldège is also pretty old, but last I heard he seemed pretty hopeful about making a life with his daughters.
#21: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Oct 11, 2021
Hm. Do you know if Thomas Genuine is his genuine name? I did a web search for him but didn't find anything. Though it's definitely harder to find anybody with that name because of his last name also being a word. I hope he is okay!!!
#22: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 11, 2021
I always think it is fun when other creators jump in on a series. Mondegreens were especially fun. So feel free to glom away.

Valerie, I was thinking of Tom O'Connell (sensei69). The user list has his last log in as June 6 2020.
#23: Jota (jota) on Oct 11, 2021
We've heard from Sensei's daughter, he's not doing very well.
Al is doing fine.
#24: Thomas Genuine (Genuine) on Oct 11, 2021
Valerie, this is not my real name... It's John Smith :) But why is it important?
The only thing I mentioned not Brian or Aldege are not my favourite puzzle makers and named two others. But in the two leaders IN MY OPINION Aldege is better... What do you think about our magnificent founder did may think?
#25: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Oct 11, 2021
Thomas - or I mean John Smith - In #7, Brian said he was worried about Tom. I assumed that he meant you, so I did a web search for "Thomas Genuine" to try to see if you are okay. But then in #22 Brian clarified that it was Tom O'Connell who he was worried about. (And I'm worried too.) Anyway, that's why it was important.

I have no clue whose puzzles our founder would have preferred. I remember Jan being impressed by somebody who was teaching themself how to intentionally design puzzles that would have a particular difficulty level. And sometimes he would mention bits of one person or another's life story that he was impressed with, like for example Theresa's foundation for kids with fetal alcohol syndrome.

Hm. Come to think of it, Jan always disliked being asked to have a favorite of anything -- restaurants, colors, music, etc. -- because he liked variety and appreciated appreciating each individual. So my prediction is that he wouldn't have had a favorite, but rather he would think everyone's puzzles are uniquely neat and worth appreciating.
#26: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Oct 11, 2021
I'm with Jan on that one. If given a choice of doing something familiar that I know I like or trying something new that may have mixed results, I want to try the new. This is not to say I'm reckless or indiscriminating, just that I do prefer new experiences.

I don't always express how much I like different puzzles, but there is usually some good to be found in each. My least favorite puzzle types are fill ins and no pictures puzzles. I still do them, I just don't prefer them.

Thanks for the update on Tom and Al. please keep us informed.

I always enjoy reading comments, finding out about folks here. I am so late doing these puzzles because I was "OUT" for several months, taking care of my mom on hospice. She's gone now, and I'm back, enjoying seeing what I missed. I won't name favorites, but I almost always enjoy your puzzles, Brian, for the reasons you listed.
#28: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Apr 9, 2022
Oh Koreen, I am so sorry. Big hugs!!

I'm glad you're back here, but sorry about what you've been through, and about the loss of your mom.
#29: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Apr 9, 2022
Koreen, big virtual hugs!!

#31: Koreen (mom24plus) on Apr 9, 2022
Thanks, I appreciate that. Mom would have turned 100 next week, April 15. (She had me very late in life). Anyway, she was ready to go, and we had 10 months to work through the process of letting go and grieving.
I still miss her, of course. We moved next door to her 30 some years ago, so it's weird not having her presence around me.
But she WANTED to go. She was bored and lonely, felt like she had completed her tasks here on earth.
#32: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Jan 17, 2024
Wow. There's ... a lot in this topic. But I'm really glad Brian chose to share this milestone as it doesn't come off as bragging at all.

I've had cases where I moved ahead of someone else for Website Contribution Points and it just felt weird, not earth shattering but I know they helped inspire me to do and try more. Some, I forgot and wished I had a keepsake. And of course some people passed me, too. More often it was just being top 10 than top 1.

I've been in and out for stretches and I seem to remember seeing Aldege ahead of Brian and then behind him. I think I only was here for Aldege's last puzzles. So this is a bit different for me than others.
