This series has made me take a strong look at the whitespace around letters (or, as illustrated here, the darkened spaces). It almost looks like the whitespace could itself make a new alphabet, e.g. this one looking like a reverse-'y' with a curled tail.

Or a mouse, sitting in the corner :)
